Seems like yesterday, days passing by so quick, burp.

My first computer :

late 80's

Atari 65XE with tape XC12, few months later on they came up with Turbo mod for the tape player so you could actually get the game to load quicker. damn loading games like Karateka or Montezuma revenge took forever! we used to go outside with my cuz and turn the volume up (because we thought that any movement will cause ERROR and open the window so when the game starts we ran upstairs and murder the joysticks untill morning. After few months later i felt in love with Commodore 64 II also with tape player, disk drive back than for me was out of the question because how much it cost, after i sold c64 and bought A500 I thought I'm God, and IBM PC users were just little ants and i was the exterminator. Every sat morning, traveling on the train for an hour to check on new realases games and demos for a500 and exchange them at so called "computer show" where it was heaven for me.

whats your story? and first comp you ever owned.

NEZ8000, a ZX80 clone with only 1kb RAM and no "slow" function. Had to put a "pause" between every draw line & the "inkeys" command. My first hack-your-computer one!

Then a more powerful TK82 (same as above), but this time with 2kb RAM :) & the dreaded slow function.:blink:

A Sinclair ZX81 1K. I loved it and was never off it. Was amazing just what you could do in a single K. Got the bug and never looked back.....

Spectrum 48k+ :)

Actually it was my Step Dads, my actual first Computer that belonged to me was a Spectrum +2a (007 Lightgun Pack) :cool:

I was about 10 maybe? Fun times :thumbsup:

Home Built Acorn Atom,
2x2114 RAM chips bought with pocket money every month until she was maxed out at 12K

TC :cool:

amigaman: I remember this one, principal owned one in our school. Every week you could stay after school and use it lol. 1 computer for entire school. well it was like owning a nice mercedes.

Mine was a C64.
I was trying to decide between an Atari 800 or the C64. I am glad I chose the C64 because I have been a Commodore fanboy ever since. I was about 8 years old. At first I only had a tape drive and it took so long to load games like "Temple of Apshai", that I would literally start loading it, cut the lawn and the game would be a few more seconds away from being done loading. LOL

After a year I got a 1541. Before I knew it I had 3 of them and a FastLoad cart. Then I got my hands on a 1581 (a 3 1/2 inch floppy drive) It was like having a hard drive. I ran a BBS on it too. :D

Macintosh IIcx running System 7.0.1. Started learning to program on that computer, on one of the many pirate copies of the never-released MacBASIC :) I still remember upgrading to System 7.5 from so very many floppies...

Atari 2600 back in 1982-83. Does that counts as a computer? :unsure:

When I was in grade 6 (about '79 or so) our school got 4 PETS in. At first, no one even knew how to turn them on. I stayed after school and at recess for hours, self teaching myself BASIC, just to make them Do something.
Later, at home, we got a TRS-80 Color Computer. It was a choice for my dad to by the C64 or the CoCo, as both computers, we had friends with. The CoCo won out, because we knew someone at Radio Shack, who worked in the warehouse at the time. The CoCo 2's had just been launched, and they couldn't sell the CoCo 1's any more at the store, so they were selling the last of the CoCo 1's out the "back door" for $99. (at that time the C64 was $399) and so they rest is history.

Amstrad CPC 6128, green monitor.
What a happy daY that was!!! Sat 14 May 1988

My first computer was the Superboard 2000 (based on the 6502 CPU).

My second computer was (not the ZX80 like rkauer) the SINCLAIR ZX81 with 1Kb and after 16KB.
Others:

  • ORIC-1 (my first routine in 6502 assembler code);
  • COMMODORE 64 with 1541;
  • AMIGA 500 (bought at TECSOFT);
  • AMIGA 3000 (bought at COMMODORE FRANCE);
  • etc...

Mine was a Spectrum +2A in 1988 or thereabouts :-) Ahh, such fond memories!

Aa the great C64 still use it from time to time :thumbsup: Had a brown unit, with tapes bought second hand unit. That was as 12 year old, my friend made me a pedal for racing games:thumbsup:
