After a fairly major sesh of listening to Son House, Robert Johnson and Sonny Boy williamson I decided I badly needed a bit of The Doors.

What's floating your boat right now?

at the moment : triumph running in the night, but then mostly 80's music and heavy metal

Right now a fairly noisy fan behind me. But recently it's been The Offspring, Molotov, Green Day, and Rage Against the Machine.

Seeing as you are a blues fan and all, have you ever made it out to Memphis? B.B.'s place always has a great band (but rarely has B.B., he only plays there on his birthday, and these days I'm not too sure of that). Rum Boogie is great, and the rest have popped up since I've been there last (2000?) so I can't speak for them. Avoid the dry-rub BBQ. Kansas City Style is the only way to go. If you do go to Memphis I would stay at the Peabody Hotel. It's one block off of Beale, and if you want to impress your sweetie, this is the place to do it

The Zoo Bar in Lincoln, Nebraska, is an outstanding bar (it's the traditional stop over for the bands that travel from Chicago to Kansas City and back). I've seen Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Anson Funderburgh, Robert Cray, and others there back in the 80's and 90's. So if you are in the States I would make this spot a priority. If it came down to either Memphis or Lincoln, it would be Lincoln for me.

From the Zoo Bar Wiki page:

Musical acts have included: Bernard Allison, Luther Allison, Dave Alvin, Billy Bacon and the Forbidden Pigs, Tab Benoit, Tommy Castro, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Deke Dickerson, Bo Diddley, Chris Duarte, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, Tinsley Ellis, Rick Estrin, Anson Funderburgh, Buddy Guy, the Hacienda Brothers, John Hammond, The Belairs, James Harman, Mark Hummel, Candye Kane, Jay McShann, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Charlie Musselwhite,Rod Piazza, Ana Popovic, Otis Rush, Doug Sahm, Curtis Salgado, Gina Sicilia, Magic Slim, Watermelon Slim, Son Seals, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, Kim Wilson, and Link Wray. Eddie Clearwater, Mighty Joe Young, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Carey Bell

You can catch the occasional great act in Kansas City (I saw B.B. King and Buddy Guy in Swope Park).

When I lived in Shreveport, LA, we went to a show where some 15-16 year old by the name of Kenny Wayne Shepherd played (Jeff Back and Buddy Guy too,
IIRC. We thought that B. B. King was going to perform, but it was Albert King instead. LOL). But the Blues in Shreveport is spotty at best. If you do visit Shreveport, be sure to eat at Ralph & Kacoo's, and stay out of Ledbetter Heights. Just saying...

In Nashville,
Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar and Bluesboro Rhythm & Blues Co were good.

I've been listening quite a lot to Machinae Supremacy lately. Defining themselves as 'SID Metal' also seems to fit the retro-theme here well, although it is more C64 than it is Amiga. :-)
Right now Live, specifically 'Heropsychodreamer', is playing.

Infected Mushroom, Benny Benassi, Radiohead and some Cranberries.

Bryce.

Sisters Of Mercy - A Slight Case of Overbombing
Deathboy - End of an Error (I used to work with him)

Possibly a bit of Slayer / Infected Mushroom later :)

Michael Schenker Group
Dio
Sex Pistols

Thats my playlist for today - maybe a bit of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band as well.

Well, right now I'm listening Faith No More.

Super Stardust, Pinball Illusions, Benefactor and Turrican 2
