Which A1200 motherboards don't need an ACA fix?

Wish i'd not seen this thread :-( I've just ordered an ACA 020 card from amigakit ('being picked' since December 30th). I'm new to Amiga's so hoping all will be ok. If there is a timing issue, how do you know and also any instructions you can recommend for a self fix? Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread but it does seem relevant to me too.

If it won't boot or crashes randomly then you probably have timing issues that needs fixing. But it is likely that you won't have any issues, so try it out and if you have problems we can take it from there. :)

@cevoner

Have you tried the ACATune command -pcmciareset ?

Yes, still trying. Jens think its software or PCMCA hardware problem. I'm going to try a 1230 blizzard next week, see if there is a change.

which rom have your Amiga ? 3.0 or 3.1 with 3.1 i had problem with pcmcia !
with 3.0 work ok

I've used that, so your network card works after that. Which PCMCIA card do you have?

I have 3.1, so I have to downgrade? A new accelerator yet. Maybe I can boot the old rom via a reboot with a file? Like to know if that is the solution.

The network adapter is a 3C589C and it works fine with KS3.1.
It should also work without the PCMCIA reset fix or the software reset solution until you do a warm reboot (CTRL-A-A). Insert the network card before you turn on the Amiga.

3C589C with ACA and rom 3.1 mobo 1d1 in my system work bad
with rom 3.0 work great

Don't have 3.0. Like to try it. Is it possible to boot roms with a file? Years go had a hardware rom switcher. Demolition has 3.1, I also have the 3com. Does Demolition have 1d4 MB? Thanks for your inputs.

if you have aca you can try maprom with 3.0 kick file

I have both a 1D4 and a 2D and the 3C589C works fine with 3.1 in both with an ACA1232.

sorry mate,whats a 2D?

Thanks, then I have same. & you just add Cardreset in startup? 1D, 3com is what I have. Thanks

Just do the reset before the card is being used/mounted, so relatively early in SS.

If this would help to anyone:
I've got two A1200 and made some tests:
1.D3 + Apollo 1240@40 - ok
1.D3 + Apollo 1260@50 - ok
1.D3 + MTec 1230@42 - ok
1.B + Apollo 1260@50 - ok (but without ram, with ram - there were probably problems with too weak PSU - system endend up on black screen)
1.B + MTec 1230@42 - ok

And ok means - stable :) No random crashes. Of course, with proper libraries installed.

define "ok" with this.

a card without ram and black screen with ram isent stable.also a card without fastram is useless.
the test would be a fail.
