Sorry to put a thread of this rubbish on these forums but I am in need for some advice (again ).

I have received my first negative comment and a fine example why buyers are given too many rights (but all that was talked about a few years ago). The issue was I wanted a quick sale since it was a very cheap BIN, as such was only aiming for a UK sale. Bare in mind I put in bold, red and underlined (like this) saying "overseas buyers please e-mail me before buying". Of-course it was sold but was annoyed that the seller was from Germany. At first I didn't know but wasn't until about an hour later I noticed. As such I put in a request to cancel the transaction and the reason (he refused to contact me before buying). He replied quite word-for-word saying "what difference does it make, before or after?"

This really brought my p*** to a boil but to be honest I was ready to give in and send him a postage quote the next day (today) only to realize he has sent bad feedback before I could even reply back to him.

Where do I stand on this guys? :coffee:

I'd be asking eBay to cancel the transaction completely as it hasn't been completed due to an invalid bid and just re-advertise the item.

How he can leave feedback for a transaction that didn't go through?

I agree with Merlin, If he has paid ebay will not do anything unless you can get them to revoke the transaction and then i guess it would be through paypal (if you hassle ebay enough they can perform this instead). Once that`s done any feedback left will automatically be removed from the system. It might take upto 30 days for them to review the case and clearly you have stated in the listing your terms so i expect you would win. If he hasn`t paid again you would need ebay to revoke this auction and go through the rubbish processes and red tape.

Merlin, once an auction closes you can leave feedback straight away before funds change hands so in instances like the item being collected you don`t have to process a transaction before you leave feedback. I think the whole thing stinks and it`s always to Fleebay`s gain, what`s that saying in Vegas `the house always wins`? It`s all a big rip off if you ask me - Rant over :)

Cheers,

I can understand your pain mate :( I have my terms in HUGE RED LETTERS and they get ignored. I state in HUGE BLACK LETTERS UK only, and it gets ignored and I get stupid questions like will you post this to Timbuck f:censored:ing too.
TBH, Ive never been at your end with someone actually buying an item who lived outside the UK, but I have had buyers with less than 10 feedback (I dont allow buyers with less than 10 feedback) who have bought a BIN item  TBH Ive let it slide as its only happend 3 or so times but dont people learn how to read in f:censored:ing school anymore? Are they really asking me to go round and stomp on their ass?! Im a big coloured guy yknow :D

Id go down the route of asking eBay to cancel the transaction as others have said though mate  Its such a shame that idiots are allowed to reproduce, they should have their reproductive organs removed at birth

I would have just set the 'ship to' country restrictions to UK only, then they have to contact you, 'cause they can't bid on it.

Wouldn't have most of the hardware I do now unless I'd managed to talk a number of ebay sellers into posting things outside their comfort zone. But for every thing I got that was another where I'd wasted time asking for postage costs etc for something I never won.

10 REPEAT
20 PRINT "Ebay sucks"
30 UNTIL NOT TRUE

FWIW if you go to seller preferences, I think it's called, you can completely block buyers from outside of the country of sale. Italy seems the worst for it. I'm always very wary of those who seem desperate to get hold of things from another country that they can surely get locally

Yep I confirm "Italy seems the worst for it". ITALIANS are the top of the list.

@ Cloudane - Is that generic or just per auction?

Cheers,

You can block certain coutries. This applies to all your auctions if you have it activated. You find it somewhere in Buyer Requirements (dont know how its called in English).
If you are willing to ship internationally why not enter shipments cost for europe and worldwide shipment?

Each time I have asked if someone is willing to ship this or that outside of what they have said in the listing, the seller has agreed. So it's no wonder people might ask about it, since almost no one really means what they say on the ad ;) But of course bidding before asking is not the way to go.

You can leave negative feedback for a buyer - you just type it in, preferably in capital letters.

From Ebay's point of view, you will have agreed to cmoplete the transaction provided you have accepted the payment. Simply reject the payment and return it and then inform Ebay the reason(s) why.

Fact is you have a Contract with him.
He is in right. So is the law (in germany) and i think in your country too.
When you dont want it than you had set the ebay settings to "don´t allow bidders from others country where i dont send."

But i understand you some people can not read. Or do other stupid things especially on ebay.

Thanks for all the advice. First things first I said to him that I'd be willing to send it if and when the feedback is sorted, this was mentioned on a feedback review, however I don't know if it can be changed to positive or removed this way. If it can't then I'd only be satisfied when its gone entirely. However I will report it to ebay soon.

Oh and he can clearly read since I got a couple of emails from him, so that's not an excuse.

I don't know if I said but to make clear, I put in a transaction cancellation to him and when that was cancelled, that was when he left negative. Critically no money has changed hands yet.

Cancel his winning bid due to him going against the auction's stated restrictions. Offer it as a 2nd chance item to the next person in line.

I can't sadly since it was a BIN. :(

This really annoys me since its happend to me so many times and I'm sick of it. One guy in America bidded on a game for 99p and called me a a******e and a w****r for apparently overcharging (about £7) him for a package that weighed over 1kg. I didn't even charge him the materials. I did report it but got not a thing back to eBay, even the insults.

Until he sends you the money for the goods, you are perfectly within your rights to with-hold the goods. When he does pay, reject and refund the payment via paypal.

From the horse's mouth. Unwelcome Buying.

This chap breached site rules by buying when you clearly stated that you would not post outside of the UK, you have full re-course to have the bid retracted, your fees refunded, the negative feedback removed and a strike placed against this guy.

I'm afraid this is simply not true. There was no contract as the bidder made a purchase that was clearly outside Tokyoracer's terms and conditions.
He is in no way "obliged" to modify his user account when he clearly states in the listing that he will not ship outside the UK.
As to whether the chap who bought it failed to understand the conditions, that's irrelevant, it is incumbent upon the buyer that he fully understands the conditions as laid out before making a purchase.

/joking mode ON

Just send me the Ebay nick via PM and I'll buy stuff from him and give him negative feedback, saying I wanna have it shipped to Burkina Faso after I won the item

Honestly...that's really a shame. Report the transaction and hope, that Ebay reacts in a positive way for you.

I had no idea about that and have just changed my buyer preferences to suit. Many thanks my friend.
