Hello there,
would love to hear from you. I am also interested in help regarding Amiga 3000 hardware (motherboard) restauration, if you are still available for this kind of work.
Thanks and best regards

Hello,

i am going to build new parts of this adapter, but i have mistakely bought simm sockets strongly angled (45*), that need more space into the original A3000 desktop to accept memory simm.
Can someone tell me the amount of space (in inches or millimeters) between the zip sockets and the metal plate above?
Then, there is someone interested on this adapter, that has the A3000 motherboard into a Tower and then not touched by this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Stefano

Sorry, I am away from my A3000s at the moment, but I'd like to declare interest in 2 pcs with logic if they fit into the 3000D, that is ;). Edit: ... while still allowing to use a 3640.

/Thomas

I can measure it tomorrow for you. If they will fit, I'd still be interested as before. I think it was for 2 with logic for 16 MB.

Are you meaning an A3000D motherboard put into a tower case or an actual A3000T motherboard? If you mean an A3000T motherboard it won't fit because the ZIP sockets aren't the same distance apart as they are on an A3000D motherboard. I was desperate once and bent the pins and it will _just_ fit the A3000T sockets but it's unreliable as heck because the pins on one side are barely making contact in the sockets and there's no reasonable way to secure the adapter in place. The pins also are about as (not) sturdy as the ones on actual ZIP chips so there's real risk of breaking them.

How long is the "tail" on the adapter? I mean how long is the adapter beyond the last pin?

Hello,

i mean an A3000D moterboard into a PC tower case adapted. A3000T motherboard has a slight different design about the zip sockets and my adapter do not fit correctly, and my adapter has a form that is senseless for the A3000T.

Hello,

there is for sale two new adapters, with logic, at 40 Eur/piece (without memory simm) + postage. Take a look at the pictures: i can't guarantee that this adapter, equipped with a common simm, fit on a A3000D motherboard in an original case, because the simm socket's degree is about 45. Can be that diffrent type of simm take different room inside the desktop case.
If you are interested, please, read all the post of this thread, to know exactly how it fit onto the motherboard and how it work.

About old sale, can be that someone of you has received this adapter without logic and the buyer has failed to make this device working. Can be that i have make erroneous assumption about this configuration and your adapter need the logic to work properly. If that, please contact me!

And last, i wish to remember that, if you are interested, you not pay for the content of the logic, that is freely downloadable here on Amibay, but you pay for my work, to realize this device with his own design: the most common CPU card for the A3000 fit correctly with this adapter, even the A3640.

Regards
Stefano

Hello,

with this device, fast memory simm (50-60 ns) and the tool SetRamsey it is possible to have a plain A3000D 1-2% faster as reported by SysSpeed.
I need to test this thing and i will report the result here.

Hello,

yes, two available complete with logic, but the price is 40 Eur each! Built with new parts and looking very well (they are hand-made, with common defects that do not affect the functionality and the durability).

Thanks for your reply!
