How many old ravers on here?

I bought my Atari STe purely because of the midi ports. That combined with a (dongle-less version of) Cubase and an Akai S950 kept me going for a number of years from 1990. I recall that Micky Finn story breaking about the Amiga ... but whilst they may have been well employed in bedrooms across...

Bitgamer has gone, possibly UndergroundGamer soon too

Never heard of either until I read this thread tonight. Gutted :D

So, who else has dreamed about finding a retro landfill site?

My loft currently resembles a retro landfill site... If anyone is interested in a couple of thousand pieces of brand new/old stock Spectrum (etc) software, let me know!

I can do that, Matt... it will have to wait a few days mind, the kids have grabbed it as they want to give it to me as a birthday present this weekend! Having said that there's pictures of it already on here as I bought it from a fellow Amibayer. The link's on page one of this thread.

What did the other uk 80s computers offer?

My favourite thing about the Dragon 32 is that at one stage it was aimed at Welsh farmers :D It was actually reasonably popular here in the UK with good support from the major players in the software market - plus you could play a fair bit of software written for the TRS-80 on it. It just...

Having taken all your comments on board, I decided to go with a RAM board in the end (whilst picking up another A500 in the meantime, but that's another story entirely...) Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the thread for all the invaluable advice given. Hopefully I'll be able to...

Don't know what MB version I have Snoozy, I will have to check. Is there somewhere specific on the MB this is stated? I did however install one of those AmigaKit IDE hard drives when I first picked up my 1200 so don't get the notification upon boot-up. No problem with delving under the bonnet...

    Amiga newbie, accelerator assistance required

Megs/gigs, small difference :D ROM check - isn't there some kind of sysinfo software I can use to save opening up the computer? And re: Fast RAM... assuming I have an 8mb option, can I not switch between 4mb and 8mb by opening the trap door and flicking jumper switches to enable PCMCIA use in...

Apologies Snoozy/fitzsteve, post duly edited. Thanks for that. Now this is a real newbie question, but how may I check what version of AOS I'm running? Also slightly concerned about the PCMCIA issue - I understand these cards conflict with RAM upgrades larger than 4GB? - as that's how I'm...
