Interested pending questions...

Does this fit an 060 in a 3000D with the standard drive bay above without hacking the case? Does it butt up against the top or is there room?

Thanks!

I just wanted to post this, for all that want to use a 060 in their A3640 (probably for WarpEngine too):
I talked to SpeedGeek the other day and you *must* have an exec.library modded Kickstart or a Zorro II ROM card with the 060 init stuff, or else there's no way to boot your system. You won't even get to the Kickstart screen, thus you can't run setpatch or the init program itself.

In other words, this is not too straight forward. Rip your Kickstart ROMs by using an Amiga program, then send it to someone who can desplit/deinterleave the ROM and inject Cosmos' modified exec.library. Then you also need to get them properly split (16-bit interleaved or something, find a guide) and burnt back into 2x256kB (E)EPROM chips.
I'd advice you to ask Cosmos for the 060 init stuff only for exec.library, as injecting his not-so-stable Kickstart modules into a physical Kickstart might be a very bad idea. Better load those to the mapped area in memory on boot instead, if you want to use them... Good luck!

EDIT: Yeah, I forgot about the LC variant of the 060 as mentioned after this post. Using the cheaper 060 variant with no working FPU will make it boot nonetheless. But cool guys have an FPU! ;)

The exception being is if you're using an LC version of an 060 without FPU, which should just work. Though I did make a 3.1 rom with the new exec for when I find a full 060, have only tested that in WinUAE, it's odd it only seems to work with UAE in 060 mode, which is going to make testing it a real amiga slightly more difficult. Just finished assembling my first set of boards, took about two hours (I'm slow). Now I just have to tear apart the A4000 to test it. Err and make the sandwich layer.

And it did work with an LC CPU (No FPU). Basic 3.1 install just detects it as an 040 with C:CPU.

Ok, not replied on here for a while but a few updates and replies
2nd batch update, most parts have arrived, just waiting for PCB's but I have a tracking number for them so they are days away, should have all in post next week

someone asked if this will fit inside an a3000, short answer, I don't know, I don't have an a3000, if someone wants to donate one my way I'll happily test it. ;-)

as for the CPU, easiest method is use an LC060, has no FPU so requires no KS mods, otherwise a KS mod is required (as discussed above) but the LC060 seem quite expensive at moment!!

ive had a few more requests to make another batch, as I discussed with the first/second batch, I make absolutely no money on these, actually costs me more to post than I was charging. but am always open to suggestions, so if there is enough interest in a batch 3 please decalre interest again and pm me and we will see what happens.

Did some further testing with an LC CPU on an A3640. With Thor's or Ralph Babel's 060 library it's really crashy. AIBB runs well enough but since no FPU is on this chip I can only run it in 68000 mode. Some tests are a few percent slower than a stock A4000, some are around 30% faster. Going to try Cosmos' 060 library next.

Works well with Thor's 060 libraries, had a bad install or configuration. Did a whole module in Sysspeed, some good gains on the RTG Graphics tests. Can't get my previously working Shapeshifter images to boot though, tried a couple Mac Roms that were for FPU-less machines with no improvement.

Managed to get Shapeshifter working, strangely Shapeshifter doesn't like using my 3128 RAM any more. MacOS8.1 even booted on it, after disabling superscalar with mycpu060 using only 8MB of motherboard RAM, and booted with extensions disabled. Turned on superscalar after it finished booting and it still worked enough to run Speedometer. Ran WHDLoad and a whole bunch of games worked properly, even really old stuff like Brattacus and Marble Madness.

 Thumbs Up for all the testing you have done .. we need more people posting results, unfortunately it's going to be a while before I get my adapter(s) assembled or I would be testing with you
