A question about PFS2

Hello,

i am in trouble and need help! What happen to a damaged PFS2 disc, not more recognized as PFS device, if i try to format it in a quick way (under PFS2)?
All the old data will be lost or there is a chance to obtain some results with the tool 'diskvalid'?
Or i obtain better result to format it under PFS3?

I have an original CD of professional file system 2.

problem solved! I have rescued almost al the files stored onto this damaged disk, a 1gb JAZ disc formatted with PFS2.
I am an happy user of this filesystem, bought the original CD many years ago, by an Amiga Show near my area; and the tool that has rescued all the content (handmade drawings and assembler sources) is named PfsSalv2 by Thomas Rapp, found here

There is just a not solved question, if the mentioned tool is able to manage the so called hidden directory '.deldir' of a PFS partition or not, and, if dont, if a quick format of the partition itself can restore this directory. At the moment, my partition is showed under Workbench as NDOS and only PfsSalv manage it correctly; other tools like 'undelete' do not reognize it as PFS partition.
Any help will be appreciated!

i have solved this problem and rescued the files (a painting as ILBM file) that PFSSalv2 was unable to rescue.


STEP ONE: reinstalled PFS2 from zero, from my original CD.
STEP TWO: found the documentation for programmers that i was looking for. It was stored onto the CD as 'Proginfo' and 'pfs.h'.
STEP THREE: wrote the counterpart for assembler language of the header file 'pfs'.
STEP FOUR: made a small program in assembler language that scan entirely a PFS2 partition and, after many sessions of debug, found a good strategy to reach the aim.
