Hello, this looks interesting. I think the ribbon version would be suitable for my CDTV because I have little clearance before the cover and there is a large capacitor near the original kickstart ROM. I can see previous purchases have been for a CDTV I just wondered if you need a jump or 2 to the motherboard or if its plug-and-go?

Please update: I need 2 of the ribbon versions as I have recently picked up an additional A500.
Thank you Tuxbar81!

Now, the ribbon version uses an industrial socket ribbon, so it's smaller and the capacitor near the Kickstart socket isn't a problem anymore.
I have to open my CDTV to see how to place the mainboard of the switcher. I've already a little idea. ;-)
If you are interested by the ribbon version, let me know here.

Best regards,
Franck

Hi Franck,

Here Iam again...Bon jour;-)
I´m Interested in an Order this Ribbon version of the automatic Switcher. BUT first i have a queston: What is this for an red Pen Mod on the CPU.

What i have to do with that, is that soldered to a pin of the 68000 or what does it mean? Is it possible to make 4 holes on the Corners of the PCB to make a "Pich Pack" with Motherboard Plastic Bolts to my 512 K Memory expansion Card?

Thx

Hi,
I'm interested in 1 KS switcher, ribbon version for an A500. Could you please send me the installation pdf as i'm unable to download.
How do you switch roms?
Also would like price + shipping to Uruguay.
Thanks!

Hi or Bonjour grobi!

The red 'Pen' that you see onto the pictures is an electronic mini-clip. It is used for picking up the Reset signal of the Amiga without any soldering (onto pin 18 of the 68K or pin 11 of Paula).

Unfortunately, there is no possibility to make holes in the PCB. But the down side of the PCB is protected with an insulated tape to avoid short circuits.

Voilà!

Best regards,
Franck

Hi gleegum,

No problem, I need an email to send the PDF file.
The Reset signal is used to switch the used Rom. Normal (short) Reset -> No switching. Long (~4 seconds) Reset -> Switching.

As shown into the first post, the ribbon version costs 21€ and the stand alone costs 13.50€.
For the price of the shipment, you have to look at the "World" lines into the tables included into the chapter 6 (shipping rates) of the first post.
For one switcher, the weight of the parcel is generally under 100g.

Best regards,
Franck

Bonsoir Monsieur Franck,

Thanks for Reply.
Understand it right, that it wouldn´t be possible to install the other Stand Alone Version to the A500? That would be better for me, because no probs with "Parking the Rom PCB in the case. Hmm dont know....i´m unsure now. With the Clips, i don´t know, are they holding? No probs with Transports a.s.o? Is there an alternative solution in my case? I prefer a fixed instalation.

Pardon, Franck can you explain me that one time more? Have you mybe suggestions how i can realize a really Fix solution with automatic KS Switching?

I wish tell you also, that i am really happy that uyou are building theese Hardware....:-)

Salut

I'd like to get on the list for a standalone version. This is perfect timing since I just upgraded to the Kickstart 3.1 for WHDLoad in my Amiga 2000 but was lamenting the loss of 1.3.

Franck if you have time can you answer me the questions? I´m really interested and wish to buy one.

And one last question: mIs that cable used a normal ide or floppy cable? can i replace it with a longer version?

thx

Hello Grobi,

You understand well. The stand alone version can't be used into the A500.
I don't think that the clip can be deconnected by itself. If you don't want to use the clip, you can solder the wire directly onto the pin 11 of Paula or onto the motherboard for example.
For the development of the switcher, I have made three PCBs. If I remember well, I have sold two of them. The buyer wanted to install the switchers into an A500.
He had to desolder the Kickstart socket of the A500 motherboard, and to solder the switcher at its place. Unfortunately, it's impossible with the actual design.
I'm not sure to find the last PCB of the prototype...
I have to produce a new batch of PCBs, and I'll see if I can modify the design to add this possibility.

With a ribbon version, you can install accelerator boards or memory expansions which are plugged onto the 68K socket.

It's a 40 wires ribbon cable which is used for IDE cables. But, onto the switcher, I use IDC transition connectors. But I can put a shorter or a longer ribbon if you want.

I add you into the table.

Hi Franck,

Add me in the List for one ribbon switcher with longest ide cable as possible;-).

When i understood right you will PM me when its ready to ship right?

Waiting....:-)))

OK! you're added into the table! :-)

I'm interested as well. Please sign me up for one ribbon version.

Geir.

You are also into the table for one ribbon switcher.

Best regards,
Franck.

Hi Franck.....any news about the ribbon switchers for the second batch ??

Currently, I use the last PCBs of the switchers for the A1000 version.

I have made a new design with a little improvement. I have added the possibility to use an Eprom 27C400 or 27C4100 onto the two sockets.
In fact, if you put a KS1.3 writed on a such Eprom onto the socket used for the KS1.3/2.X, that's not going to work. Anyway,it's easy to make it to work, a simple wire between pin 21 and 31 of the Eprom is enough.
But, I have added a jumper onto the new design, it's better.

I've also added a little pin for a futur expansion. Actually, it's only onto the paper. I have to test and after I'll launch a production of this idea.

I have launched a new production of PCBs, and I'm working onto the A500 stand alone switcher as soon as I'll receive them.
In the waiting, I've started to work onto the stand alone version. Seven are under construction and will be sent to members who have only declared their interest for this version.

Voilà!
