Hi Amybuyers,
Here an other question to users who know much more than me about retrocomputing:coffee:
I Use my Amiga500 to play, not programs etc. Ther's some kind of advantage upgrading with a kickstart switcher (i've one) 1.3/3.1 or is absolutely useless?

My config: A500 rev8,supra turbo 28, supra ram 8Mb

Direi nessun vantaggio.
Anzi solo svantaggi.
Molti giochi non funzionano con kickstart oltre il 3.1.
Saluti.

or translated :-

I would say no advantage. Indeed only disadvantages. Many games do not work well with the 3.1 Kickstart.

The only advantage I can think of, if you're really not into the apps/OS, would be if you also got a hard drive.

In that case, you could run WHDLOAD (which I think requires kickstart 2.x or higher), which is really nice.

Now, with the Supra 28, you still wouldn't be able to just "Quit back to Workbench" on many games, as that requires a 010 or higher CPU. But it's still nice with some of the really large games to use WHDLOAD.
There are compatibility problems with some older games, but a degrader program or WHDLOAD takes care of that.

So, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you get a HD... IMHO

My A500's only have kick 3.1 now as I don't use the floppy for playing any games anymore. Just whdload via HDD and have upgraded the CPU's to 68010's.

If I still had most of my floppies from back in the day, I'd likely stick with 1.3 though.
