@hese Another repair with upgrade request. Mentioned on previous PM. Putting this on here just in-case there is a queue now.

DCE Cyberstorm 060/PPC @ 233mhz. This is different to the Phase 5 Cyberstorm you recently repaired for me.
Issue with DCE CYBPPC card:
This is a weird one; Card will power up without issue and will work. But if you switch off the system or reboot then card will stop working. After about a couple of hours to a day then you can get the card to work again.

Looking for a possible repair, replace SIMM sockets with same as Phase 5 version so it will fit into a tight fitting Tower case (DCE version has virtual 90 degree SIMM sockets) with a 400Mhz 604 PPC chip upgrade.

@hese Declaring interest in a couple of repairs to a Phase 5 Cyberstorm 060 233mhz ppc, fairly sure it needs new 060 socket. This works but has to be left to warm up before it’ll boot, then very crash prone.
A DCE Cybervision ppc needs a capacitor replacing (probably needs a total recap).

Recently bought an Amiga 1200 from a friend which still works but has never been recapped. (also another friend has an Amiga 4000T which recently stopped working probably due to failing caps and is interested in a recap service in .fi)

Hi, due to a stupid accident last night, it looks like I killed the SCSI controller chip on a rev 2.4 Fastlane Z3 SCSI board. Ram seems to be OK, it's 'visible' to the OS, it's also possible to query the z3scsi.device and check the rom version... it's not possible to boot from any device connected to it, scsicontrol commands to enable synchronous mode fail, etc... so, it appears that the problem is the SCSI controller chip but it may be only that or perhaps that and something else. There is some other stuff I'd like to send for repair but I'd rather get started with this first.

I can replace the SCSI chip but if the GAL/PAL/MACH chips have been damaged in the process, that is something I can't fix.

Probably but I would suggest contacting some local repairer as it gets quite expensive just to ship the mouse across the pond twice.

Thanks for your reply @hese . Is there away to test the SCSI chip before replacing it? I can send you a PM of details of how it happened so you have an idea... also, as mentioned above, the board recognizes RAM just fine.. the board is also shown in the early startup (both, the RAM and SCSI as working, no errors) ... however, I don't know exactly where the GAL/PAL and MACH chips are located in the board. I seem to remember that the MACH chips are memory related, so those are probably fine... not 100% sure about that though.

@hese Here's a quick picture of the area where I actually saw smoke coming out from... it may have been a short in the HD led pin header... and that's where this smell of burned electronics comes from...so, hopefully it's something there only... :-(
