The weather is getting warm, and im'a 'revvin' up..

Cabling will take some time. There's one more momentary switch to be installed, trimming, adapting square buttons on top of the red ones, some painting etc. etc..

Small update..
Here's how the rectangular switches will be 'capped':

ICPcut25.jpg

I got me a mini USB keyboard with keys in sat dimensions for this. A key will be adhered on top of each switch, after it is painted, and covered with a laminated tag. Once the key is ready, it will be spray-lacquered before being secured.

ICPcut26.jpg

For each key to sit properly on top of a switch, some dremellin' has to be done. Keys have a shape that helps them to snap on the keyboard, which has to go.
Here's how a key is underneath before i removed the excessive plastic:

...and after:

It might not look pretty, but it will not be visible!
Here's the key painted white, and carrying the appropriate tag on top:

Finally, a couple of pics with the panel showing how the keys look:

Now, remember, these are not glued yet in place, and the panel's fascia is the temporary one, for experimentation only!

Thanks John, going through one of those 'too many projects at the same time' phases again, thus the slow pace.. :)

Here's all the caps placed on top of the switches. Not yet glued-on though.. :)

Stay tuned!

Small update..
Started drilling holes for the leds to illuminate the panel

ICPcut37.jpg

Got me the reset switch that was missing

ICPcut36.jpg

and put in place

ICPcut34.jpg

Had the plexiglass spray-painted in black,
ICPcut33.jpg

And tried on the clean fascia print. Notice the 2-way (on-off-on) have been painted gray.

Plenty of more details to be done on this panel. :)

oooh can we have a injector seat button too, looking very real
Don't you mean ejector seat John, or do you prefer to be fired under rocket power into the cockpit of a burning plane...??

Got me the (white)prints for the ejection seat today!
What you see here is a 1:1 scale print, part 1 of 3 which will make cutting the pieces extremely easy.
Personal "assistant" and ICP console displayed for size-comparison

Suppose you 'need' a custom switch.. One that has usually some military use.
Now, suppose you don't have 40-50 bucks spare to purchase a used one..:(
What'd you do? Improvise! :)
The RTN SEQ switch on the ICP panel has a rectangular lever. Since budget is low, i went for the 2 Euro solution.
First i bought a cheap compass:

Then i removed the one leg
ICPcut40.jpg

I then cut it in pieces
ICPcut41.jpg

And drilled it with a 2.5mm drill lengthwise:
ICPcut42.jpg

And finally, slid the switch lever into the opening
ICPcut43.jpg

Presto!
ICPcut44.jpg

Here she is on the panel
ICPcut45.jpg

I call this 'el cheapo switchero rectangularo'!

I'm rather pleased with the result, and my wallet is even more pleased..
