I’ve been trying to partition a 4GB CF card for an A500 via winuae but I can never see the CF card in HDTools partitioning program.
I’m using KS3.1 with standard setting and 1mb chip ram with 1.5 mb ram, and I’m using the wb3.1 install adf.

I use diskpart to clean the CF card prior to adding it as a HD in winuae,

Still cannot see the drive in the hdtools program.

Now if I change the settings in winuae to A1200 but use the same wb adf image, the card is seen and I can proceed as normal..

Would anyone know why this is?

You need to change the driver in HDToolBox to 'UAEHF_Device' if you want to setup your drive using the default UAE HD controller/driver. When you change the settings to A1200 this also changes the emulator to use 'SCSI.DEVICE' which is of course recognised by default by HDToolBox.

There are advantages/disadvantages to using WinUAE's driver when setting up your drives, have a read of the Large HD FAQ over at EAB if you need some bed time reading ;)

once I had set up the CF card with 1200 settings, I couldn’t see the formatted card with 500 settings, so I’ll try this way.

Is this done by right clicking on the HDToolbox and clicking on information in the drop down menu?

yes right click and change `scsi.device` to `uaehf.device` and save

Thank you, I’ll give that a try tonight

I got to partition the cf card and setup classicwb but I must be missing something because when I go to boot up in winuae to use dopus it hangs in a black screen.

I have the System.hdf as a hardfile
I add the newly partitioned and formatted cf card as a hard drive
If I only add the hardfile it boots to the configured classicwb

Well I finally got a chance to work on this again, and now I can see both partitions in winuae and I’ve installed classicwb and I’m about to transfer all my files over to the cf card but I can’t see it in dopus. Here is a pic of what I’m talking about

I’m trying to make the system.hdf as DH2: so I can copy over the files onto DH0:

What am I missing?

Did you try to type DH2: manually? DOpus does not detect and list drives in the menu automatically.

I've had Winuae act a little funky when trying to re-shuffle the drive order through the setting panel. Try removing them all and adding them back in the order you'd like to see them.

Before doing that though, try right-clicking the little S icon in Dopus (roughly in the middle of the screen, slightly below) it should list all the drives, assigns and devices in the current active pane. You may see it in the list that way, if it has actually been detected correctly.

Demolition I tired various different ways to make it seen it didn’t seem like anything was working, but what cheezmonkey said worked like a charm,
I found it hiding as DH1_0:

I’ve transferred the system over to DH0: and I’m almost at a point where I can test the cf card by itself.

I tried running WHDLoad but only 1 game is seen. I’ll have to check where exactly where it’s looking for the games.

Thanks a lot, I’ll let you know final results
