Was that a Stargate quote I spotted their SDG?
I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that. Stargate is my favorite science fiction franchise of all time. I'm watching through SG-1 on DVD again (end of season 7 at the moment).

Now, back on topic! :p

Heather

Have you been watching Universe (SG:U)? Some are moaning that it is too slow, but that is taking it as being similar to SG1. Watching it in its own right I'm enjoying it. I just hope that move on from the characters own issues and start to do more with the ship, it's technology, and explore more planets. Very much filmed in the style of the recent BattleStar Galactica, which is one of my favourite Sci-Fi series to date. But overall you can't beat DS9!

There are loads of great Sci0Fi series at the moment though. Fringe, FlashForward and SGU.

Yep! I actually agree with you on all your points. Also, DS9 is my favorite Star Trek series. SGU is good but, as you say, I hope they start dealing with more than just the character issues. My favorite episode so far was Time. :) I'm already watching all the other shows you mentioned.

Alright, there's lots of people that haven't posted here yet. Let's hear all the dirt!

Rkauer is typing all his sins right now.

Redirecting all to NIL: , of course!:p

Worst Mistake

Worst Mistake

The worst mistake I ever made nearly got me killed. Literally. I went out to the country with my dad to do some target practice with my dad. He brought his Luger .22 and the .38 Smith and Wesson. I checked the both guns and thought I had the safety on on the Luger when I handed it to my dad. I turned and went to go back to the Jeep to get the .38 and I heard a popping sound and felt the worst searing pain I had felt to that point in my life. My back hurt and my side hurt really bad. I reached back to my back and my hand came back bloody. I realized that the safety must have already been set on the Luger and I had turned it off! 3 hours later in the hospital the removed one bullet from the shoulder blade and the other passed cleanly through my body just under the ribcage on the outside edge of my right side. I seem to recall that it hit something but everything turned out fine. That's the worst mistake that I can talk about here.

So your dad shot you in the back? Sorry, you were not clear on that. First thing I learned when handling guns was never point it at anyone, even if you think it's empty. :(

Well, at least you were OK!

Take care,

Heather

The Luger had a bad trigger and he was just lifting it up when it went off. He reflexively pulled the barrel up and it went off again as he was pulling it up. That was why I got hit in the lower back and the shoulder. It was my own fault. I screwed up. I'm just happy I'm not dead. I don't hold my dad at fault. I didn't state that my dad shot me in the back because it wasn't like he did it on purpose. Saying it like you said it makes it sound to me like there was intent behind the gunshots. I had never seen my dad so terrified in my life, and I never saw him that terrified again. But it is one of the reasons that I will never have a gun in my house.

Nathan

P.S. Besides I'm more of a bow hunting person myself.

-Edit- To finish up the story on the gun, my father said he had it destroyed after the accident. He willed me the 9mm when he passed away, but I gave it to my stepfather. He'd use it more anyway.

Okee. :) I wasn't placing blame, just clarifying. As you said, accidents happen! The main thing is everything turned out fine. I know, I accidentally shot my dad in the butt with a BB Gun. Not exactly the same thing, but it does happen!

I know I'm glad you're OK and that monster kitty cat of yours must be as well! I still want him.

*EDIT* Oooh, my dad turned a corner once in an old car of ours and I was sleeping against the passenger door. The door opened and I spilled out into the middle of the road! I was like 8. Luckily, there were no other cars coming. My dad was shaking so bad, so I sorta know what you mean.

Off Topic:
You can have him! That beast just ate three $20 Anableps anableps (4 eyed fish) the other day! One they are hard to come by and two they are expensive (for me) to buy! Just remember that you can't have any other pets in the house otherwise he might try to kill them. Cats included. He will not tolerate other male cats. To make matters worse, he won't leave closed doors alone. Let me show you what he had to post on the bathroom doors when we had our Halloween party this year!:D We had complaints at the previous party.

Snap! Exactly the same thing happened to me when I was four on a roundabout in Belfast whilst my mum was in hospital giving birth to my brother.
I just sat up in the middle of the of the road surrounded by cars slamming their brakes on.
My Dad didn't even notice until my cousin told my Nan that I had fallen out! When she looked round, there was an empty spot where I should have been.

I've already confessed two of my mistakes earlier but since the chat has got on to accidents with fathers i'll share another.

I shattered the bone in my dads nose into pieces and he now has a metal plate instead.

I was pulling some bags of sand and cement up our front garden steps on a loading trolley which had rubber grips over the handle, my dad was following up the steps behind me.
I guess i must have had too much weight on the trolley because all of a sudden the rubber grips slid off the handles and the trolley fell forward.
All i saw was my dad fall to the floor and when he came up his face was covered in blood.
As i looked at him all i saw was a triangle shapped hole in the middle of his face.
We rushed him to hospital where they operated and put a metal plate in place of his nose bone.
The worst part though is it took them a long while to wake him fron the anastheatic.
The doctor said that they actually thought they were gonna lose him.
I now flatly refuse to lift anything on a trolley and insist on moving things one at a time.
