Has anyone experienced a suspension because of ebays DSR policy? Basically buyers can rate sellers on a 1-5 scale and if a seller gets low scores (more than 3 in a certain time period) for a basic seller then eBay will ban the account from selling. Ive been reading up on this and hundreds are being banned, some of them being business sellers with employees that have thousands of 100% feedback ratings but a few low star scores!

It just doesnt make sense why eBay would leave sellers accounts in the hands of the buyers. It doesnt take much to get a few problem buyers and then boom your no longer allowed to sell. Its also open to abuse should you have a dispute with someone and them, along with some friends, decide to get your account closed on purpose. Ive noticed that most sellers are being banned due to dispatch time, well ebay gives the seller the option to choose upto 10 days dispatch time but lets say the seller gives 3 days dispatch time and sends the item on the third day, however the buyer isnt happy about this or didnt bother to read it so they leave the seller a 1 or 2 rating which is bad, but the seller has done everything by the book so it isnt fair that they should get this rating and be one step closer to suspension just because the buyer didnt bother to read all of the information. Also if you get one bad buyer who leaves negative feedback, are they really going to rate the seller fairly? No they would just leave low scores right accross the board.

I remember when the star rating system first kicked in, it was a good gimmick and still would be if it was there to show how well sellers are doing. But to be suspending good honest sellers when theres really no need is a complete joke.

It looks like eBay is its own worst enemy. I beg for the day another auction site comes along that destroys eBay. It shouldnt be biting the hand that feeds it.

If only places like ebid.net got their act together a bit more, fleabay would have some viable competition

Your right, thats exactly what eBay needs.

I just cant believe they leave sellers accounts in the hands of the buyers, some sellers on ebay have staff etc and some sellers rely on ebay to pay their rent and put food on the table with items sold. So allowing buyers to potentially suspend a seller is a joke! Especially when it can be for dispatch time, even when the seller has stated a handling time yet buyers dont like it. Whats funny is that as a buyer I have never been informed of the importance of the star system. I never knew someone could get banned because of my actions. I remember the star system being a gimmick when it first started and always thought this was still the case until recently. But ebay never told me of the changes or the devestation it could cause if I didnt use it properly.

eBay will never have any serious online auction competition. Yahoo tried and failed. Overstock tried and failed. Amazon? (I think they already tried and gave up too.)

Yeah, eBay's been pretty blatantly biased towards buyers for a few years now. I've never had it cause me trouble, but that's probably because I don't do that much selling there anymore.

Used to be a SERIOUS seller on ebay, but the inability to give a negative to Buyers ensured that if the deal didn't go exactly as the buyer expected, including 48hr delivery, pristine product and cheap, you got a threat of a negative with no recourse.

They could even buy, not pay, then leave a rating that eBay would not remove without alot of phone calls. It became an impossible situation so I stopped selling.

Just sell the very occasional bit of stuff that noone wants on here now. :(

I've sold tons of stuff on eBay over the last 11 years. I've received 1 negative feedback and nearly 1000 positive feedback (and 0 neutral). It's really not that hard to be a good seller and satisfy most bidders. Just list accurately and ship quickly.

You're just very lucky, orb.

An accurate description/shipped quickly means nothing if a buyer a) doesnt read the description fully or b) wants to defraud you! And I've had plenty of both

Oh yes, I forgot to mention: I don't ship overseas via eBay. I think that has saved me from a lot of pain.
