Is anyone else seeing this nonsense when you try to list an item on say UK ebay when your in the US ?

Confirm your identity

We want to keep eBay a safe place to buy and sell, so we need a little more information from you to confirm your identity.
Please select one of the following:

Link your verified PayPal account to your eBay account
If you're already PayPal Verified, just link your PayPal account to your eBay account.

Provide your bank account information (recommended)
Use our quick, easy process to securely provide us with your bank account information.

Like hell I'm giving these muppets my bank account information, so I choose Painpal, and it just goes around in a big loop and never actually finishes or gives any errors.

I've told them if they can't fix it I'm going elsewhere. I've sold the exact same item before and its been fine.

painpal haha, umm i donno, but what really pisses me off, you look on ebay in US, and you see something you click on it, and its in hong kong. bleh

Yea I bought something without looking where it was from once..after buying it I noticed it said shipping would take 4-8 weeks. I thought to myself "WHAT?!" and then noticed they were in Hong Kong....LAME.

My overall experience with Ebay is by the time you pay all of the fees, you barely make a dime off of the transaction anyway, unless you overcharge. And this if where the overcharging mentality comes from. It has just escalated now. Things I could buy off of Ebay for $30 2 years ago is now going for $150. Pretty annoying.

AFAIK ebay owns Paypal, so if you give your bank acount info to Paypal you are indirectly giving it to ebay!

Figure it out myself, have to go into PainPal and do their verify account thing. Then use the ebay stuff which now works*. At least the bank stuff was almost instant not the 24+ hours their claim.

These sort of last minute roadblocks is why I call it PainPal.

* except for removing the photo I added earlier so I have to go edit it again after listing :pissed:

its not a scam thats how they make $ from people, big bucks! i love how they charge 9% from whatever you sell. Sell something for 200 thats 20 bucks, plus they charge when you list , when you sell, and painpal milk you too. Hmm again look very closly what you buy because you might get same thing Brand new from store, than used for same price

I thought it was 10% now?

A breakdown of Fleabay UK's charges:

Then there is paypal fee's:

For payments made as a purchase of goods or services, (e.g. items purchased on eBay), the recipient (seller) will be charged a fee. This fee is typically 1.4% to 3.4% plus 20p of the transaction.

What I have found annoying is at the top of the listing it says shipped from U.S.
and you have to search to find that the item is really in China, or when 'free shipping' is included you find out where it is coming from after you buy it.
If the seller does not give their exact location (just Earth is not acceptable), and where the item is coming from, I ignore the listing.

Within Painpal there is an option to link your eBay account with it. I had the same issue a few months ago and this fixed it!

Profile > Auctions (on Selling Preferences menu) > Add in your eBay account :)

ebay is a buyers market provided you play by the rules and avoid the scammers/muppets

It's defo not a sellers market any longer, 10% cut to ebay/paypal is ridiculous! I hate the fact they come across all friendly with no insertion fees...no they just rip it out of your ass when your stuff sells

I wish they'd bring back insertion fees. Preferably based on your start price/BIN price. Might discourage morons from asking way more than something is worth 'on the offchance'

True, true :( I only sell items worth more than £30 on eBay now, anything under £10 is simply not worth the time or effort unless I was running a business. As a seller you can't even leave negative feedback for idiots :(

final value fee
Paypal fee
VAT fee
Postage costs for certain categories can't be over a certain amount meaning you may lose money in some cases! (I sold a jacket on there - wouldn't let me charge for postage above £4 - I ended up with a postage bill of £9 as I had to send via Special... sigh).

all adds up

http://sellerupdate.ebay.co.uk/may2011/product-details-catalogue.html

From 17 May 2011, sellers listing in certain Electronics categories must list with a matching product from the eBay catalogue to maintain sales.

After 17 May 2011, you must list all Electronics items with a matching product in the catalogue. After this date, if you haven't listed or relisted all your items (including Good 'Til Cancelled) with a matching product from the eBay catalogue, you risk your listings being ended and you could lose sales.

....

Many more items in Electronics categories will need to list with matching products in the catalogue soon, for example, computing.

:censored:
Oh go sit on a nailgun eBay.

eBay are getting greedier by the day.

On 21 July 2011, the final value fee for fixed price listings (Buy It Now) will be changed to a flat rate of 10%, up to a maximum £40. This new flat fee replaces the current tiered structure, making it simpler and easier for you to calculate up-front the fees you'll pay. As before, you won't pay any final value fee if your items don't sell. The new calculations only apply to items listed or scheduled to start on or after the 21 July 2011.
