He currently has it listed on the site but its $190 and is listed as out of stock.

If the MegaEverdrive is anything to go by he may not include these as theyre about the same stage of production that the Mega was last group buy. But let's wait and see.

It makes sense. If there's a huge backlog of orders to retrogate and stone age gamer so that they're not even taking preorders anymore as filling the backlog will take months, why should our group buy get ahead in line?

With availability issues on the sd2snes and limited number of extra games working on it compared to super everdrive with dsp1 and with the price difference being potentially quite significant... I think super everdrive would be my choise for now. Maybe get the sd2snes later when it has its firmware ironed out to support superfx too.

The last thing I would want is to get sd2snes only to later find out that the firmware upgrade for superfx could not be done after all and that I need cf3snes instead.

Still, it's worth asking about.

Cool. Might go for the Magadrive one this time as never owned that system.

I would definitely be interested in a Turbo Everdrive if they are available and depending on price maybe one for the SNES and Megadrive.

Does anyone know if the Turbo Everdrive fits in the PC Engine LT...? I assume it does but all I can find out is that the optional USB version will not work on the Super Grafx.

The carts are identical so I dont see why it wouldnt.

Even as is, the SD2SNES is a HUGE improvement over the already existing cards... it is well worth the extra cost IMHO assuming one can pay it...

I cant sadly, I may just be in for a MegaEverdrive or even just a standard one this time around. Moving out next summer so I can be closer to Uni for my final year so need every penny I can keep hold of.

I hope krikzz is still doing these when I graduate because theyre going to be pretty powerful development tools for the retro community and I really want to be able to develop something we can all enjoy once I do.

Well I suppose the group buy price would be a little bit more reasonable, or enough that I would be interested about it if such option was given but I doubt that there will be that possibility because they are so sought after and many many people have preordered from the shops.

^ when I ordered mine a couple of months ago I sent an email to Krikkz and kindly asked when the sd2snes will be available again... he gave me a heads up when he had built some and got mine from the 2nd batch :)
you can also monitor his twitter, he put the announcement there at the same time : https://twitter.com/krikzz

I follow him on Twitter :) Group buy situation is another matter however, as they need to be in ready supply usually, without any major demand before he can start giving discounts, or even shipping en-mass.

I've put the question to him however and should have the official response for you all in a day or so.

yeah , sorry for the OT :) best of luck with the negotiations!

No need to apologise ;) This is a discussion thread after all. It's a place for discussion, opinions and thoughts

What date are you thinking for an 'all order in date', also what offers are they 'we hit 10 its this price etc. 20 its this price'

Sorry bit excited :D

I've told krikzz to expect orders around the same magnitude as the last one  If there are a few missing by the 'all in date' I should have my student loan by then to fill in a few blanks which I can later sell on, so I wouldnt lose out, and that way we all get a good price.

My suspicions are confirmed regarding the SD2SNES... Here's the official line...

" Currently i produce sd2snes in very limited quantity, so, at this moment i can't offer sd2snes for group orders. "

So that won't be included this time around. But perhaps next group buy ;)

Krikzz confirms my thoughts on the LT too...

" not tested, but should fit, LT does not look unusual "

Great, then I am defintiely in.

Still confused why the SueprGrafx does not work though... the cartridge slot in them is no different.

Just so everyone knows what to expect, I'm looking at the all in date being around third week in September, so it is a while off yet. An exact date will be specified when I start taking orders.

Looking at starting to take orders in a separate thread on or around the 7th

Rofl! That was unexpected...

I'm honestly unsure about that as I need it in paypal to pay krikzz. Let me get back to you on that one.

Well, when I go to his "contact" page, he has this up there immediately.

"I DO NOT SELL SD2SNES. I am not involved in the distribution process. Do not contact me about pre-orders."

So I think if I then went on and asked about sd2snes it would be kind of rude. So I guess the thing to do is keep checking on some of the sites for when preorders might open up again.

edit: Oh I only now realized there *is* a german shop offering possibility to preorder sd2snes. We well see if I will receive it before same time next year though so I am still in the market for Super everdrive as it will probably be available sooner. Should be quite easy to sell super everdrive after I receive sd2snes. I guess this is going slightly off topic, but what game would be good donor cart for sd2snes plain circuit board edition?

Also, is it possible to put a naked everdrive or sd2snes to the cart slot the wrong way around and thus destroy it? I think this is certain to happen with a little alcohol mixed to snes gaming :)
