Hey everyone! I'm now down to my final 7 cartridges. Thanks again to everyone who joined in on this project! It's wonderful to know that there are 150 of these cartridges in the world because of everyone who participated.
Indeed great piece of hardware Heather.
I am rookie at this but I copied succesfuly some games for test from tape to tape using the freezer.
I've noticed though that many games don't load from its basic and needs to reset it to go back to the original one that then works fine.
The old command was AWESOME as it brought back a listing after reset.
The only thing I didn't manage to do was to POKE some games :-/
I don't know how to so I reset a game and poke/sys from basic and monitor just as experiment with no results.
I'm glad you're enjoying the cartridge! When I purchased my first C64, I could not afford a disk drive but I did have a tape drive. I used The Final Cartridge 3 to load games using a friend's disk drive, then I would save them to tape using the Freezer function. It worked really well for many games.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'many games don't load from its basic'. The fast loader built into the cartridge is compatible with most games. However, if a game doesn't work with the fastloader, you can load the program using the fast loader then type KILL and press enter to disable the cartridge once the game is loaded. This only works for games you need to start using the RUN command after they are loaded.
I'm almost positive there's a way to continue a program or look at the pointer to restart a machine language program. It should be in the manual. The OLD command is a great feature! There are also other tools for coding in Basic. One of the most powerful commands is the renumber command to renumber all the lines in your Basic programs.
