Hi Everyone,
Like many of you I grew up on the Commodore 64 in the 80's, then moved to the Amiga 500 (early late 80's/early 90's) using a A520 on a tiny little TV, and finally PC.. been feeling nostalgic lately and while looking at those C64 and Amiga mini's I figured.. why not try to get the real thing instead (not quite going 'retro recipes' and rebuild the whole desk I had :) )

So I Scored one on Ebay from the UK (am in the US nowadays) and it's enroute - but of course now will need to figure out a ton of headaches I didn't anticipate: Like trying to get this to work on some more modern monitors.. Have a Dell 2001FP which supposedly supports the 15khz (amongst others has VGA, S-Video and Composite in), but i'm still trying to learn about the scan doublers, buffer or non buffer plugs, vertical line removers etc.. if anyone can point me in the right direction feel free ping me. Also trying to find a good mouse solution (didn't come with one - not sure I want to spend 50 bucks or so on a tank mouse, or get an adapter for a more modern mouse), Joysticks, memory upgrades (I used to have the A501 metal box? for a total of 1mb, but no idea if it was chip/fast etc.. too long ago), and trying to see if can take some ADF's and get those back onto floppies that the Amiga can read (vs just swapping out the drive all together). So lots of reading to do, but any advice is much appreciated.

Still contemplating getting a C64 too, but might just get a 'TheC64' for that and avoid all the connection headaches
Thanks!

While I find those mini's super cute and highly collectable, there still no nostalgia fix like having the real hardware.

Welcome to Amibay :)
