You need to add FPGA to the title ;)

Indeed, I forgot to mention how awesome the project is!

There is a great thread over at EAB.

Certainly something I'll be keeping a close eye on :ninja:

Steve.

That is very impressive, I was going to ask what a FPGA accelerator would be but I simple google'd FPGA:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-programmable_gate_array

So the magic of this is that this will effectively be an A600 accelerator but without the traditional chip route i.e. an Motorola 68k family chip? Instead it is going to use a completely custom configurable chip:wooha:

I guess if this actually works, then anything might be possible in terms of future upgrade paths?:wooha:

I'll say it again, there are some incredibly talented people in the Amiga community

PS - love the A600 in the early shots, I suspect it was use for about a year before the A1200 came out and then shoved in a loft for 18 years as it is perfectly white, yet the TV modulation box has rotted out!!

I was trying to find the EAB thread for this project, but failed miserably.. still found this one, and again, blimey the talent out there in the Amiga community is staggering:wooha::bowdown:

I'm not on the EAB forum (and probably shouldn't as i spend enough time online anyway) but if someone could send on a blooming well done from me please do! - I've always wanted to play both Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle and on an Amiga would be something special. FT is an absolutely brilliant game as well:)

Staggering :bowdown::wooha::)

Stumbling across my old A600 could be the most expensive thing I ever did, and I have since been given my A1200 back that i brought when they first came out............................................:D

am I right in think Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle are scum titles if so you really need to join EAB and have a look at novacodas efforts in that area or vist aminet :)

I was away from this forum for some time, and don't know are you registered on some other forums so here are some of the pictures... and video... I didn't finish project because of number of reasons, but every mail I receive regarding to this project will be published so people can learn from this project. Yes it can be done and yes we will have open hard&soft database for this and other accelerators, and yes I ll finish what I have started, alone or with some help.

And here is video where led use clock from motherboard over clock buffer, clock multiplier to internal pll of the cyclone... Concept proven...

Ok here is the situation, all money I colected to start and finish this project is gone. I don't have money to finish it. I need money to buy some equipment like hot air gun, logic analyzer and need money to buy some more parts and more amiga 600 boards. So I send some suggestion to kickstarter but is there any way someone can help donating A600 board or something, or is there someone who can give me some kind of financial support. Can you point me where to go to find help regarding to this because as I can see there was number of project who are finished with help of amiga comunity. Idea is as you know to have open hardware and software website... Can someone point me what to do next.

Ok here we go because I don't know are you registered on some other forums. Project is not finished due to many reasons, but every mail I received or send to people who helped with creating and building this projec will be published so people can learn from this project. And yes it can be done, and yes we will have open hard˛soft database for this and other FPGA accelerators. So anyone with some knowledge can upgrate it. Speed is not limit here we have to overclock if we have knowledge...

Ok let me inform you now I m at about 1.85 Mips with 8 Megabytes of ram so it is few times faster then original A600 but goal is about 9Mips so much much more needs to be done. Older pictures are here.

Looks really good - have you created a Kickstarter campaign to help fund it?

9 mips on a A600 would be awesome - I could play the PC version of BASS using SCUMM I reckon with that power! :)

2 years ago kickstarter refuses campaign but I contacted them 2 days ago and now after their investigation they prepared to consider project again. But I don't understand kickstarter well. Who will promote project ? Who are the people who donate. I even don't understand how those donations works. I know that I have to set a money goal and if we reach the goal money tranfer happens and that kickstarter takes some percentage of collected money.

Seriously, talk to AmigaKit (and failing that Vesalia/ACube) and see if they will help you get this exciting product to retail (and possibly arrange to setup Kickstarter for you).

AmigaKit have been known to fund 3rd party Amiga hardware projects before.

It's one thing to design new hardware, but it's a completely different story to actually get a product to retail.

Just look at how long it's taking Mike to get the FpgaArcade to retail, he's been working on that for years now!

What can I say? It's very good project and it deserves our support.
And it would be very nice to have there MC68030 + MC68882 both at 100MHz, at least 64MB in DIMM socket... But maybe 030+882 is to complex to fit in FPGA? Or I'm wrong?

Yes complete concept works that way. So board could be used for another 10 or more years and with new cores can be upgraded. even if there is no space(LE) on specific FPGA it can be replaced with any other in matter of few hours work. So this could be first one real overclock ready card. For now new redesign is taking place to reduce costs and include better, faster memory. From the start I expect about 6Mips and with adding better cache I thinkl that limit will be around 9 Mips with Tg68 core, but there are other cores, much faster that we could test, maybe even fit Natami core I don't know. But once this board gets into the hands some smarter people with new ideas I expect little revolution with publishing better and faster codes and design improvements. So now I just need to find little more motivation to take this to the end. For now I was testing much games and programs on current design to find out is there any problems regarding compatibility but so far everything acts as normal CPU with lot of memory just like real accelerator. Playing games with whdload is smooth but since I m not satisfied with performance about 1.85 Mips I don't want to publish design or start production if there is a demand for something like that. Everything runs now stable at 100Mhz and with frequency increase and 16 bit SDRAM it could go much much higher. Also I m thinking about adding VGA and PS2 and maybe wirelesses but just thinking not working on it :)

So let it publish here also.

Smell the rubber 6.06 Mips
