@ Harrison

But your making an Intuitive point & click process into a Major AmigaDOS nightmare m8. :roll:

We all like simple effective solutions. That's why we're all still Amiga nuts isn't it. :shrug:

No i think its 3.00 ...

It says kickstart version 39.106
workbench version 34 20....

Yes, version 39.106 is a 3.0 ROM

To my knowledge Workbench 3.1 requires 3.1 ROMs.

That means that your A1200 kickstart should say "Kickstart version 40.68"

Have you obtained this kickstart yet?

You can run Workbench 3.1 on a 3.0 Kickstart, you just can't run OS3.5/3.9 on a 3.0 Kisckstart.

I have personally ran WB3.1 on my old A1200 which had 3.0 Roms.

@fitzsteve

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! :)

@Phil1978
then you can install 3.1 on your harddisk.

Like Harrison is pointing out, do you have a complete floppy set for Workbench 3.1?

- Workbench
- Extras
- Fonts
- Install
- Storage
- Locale

An example of what the floppies should look like is hereWorkbench 3.1

@fitztive@ I have serious doubt that your vision of the 3.0 roms without loading the 3.0 workbench is supported by everyone. I know it works, but some people report problems with it.

Hi guys' Id not kept an eye on this' i dint know you guys had kept posting comments....

Its been some interesting reading tho' cheers....

Just a quick update... When i boot with workbench 3.1 it does have the AQ icon there but im still a little worried that if i format it then try to reinstall WB3.1 it wont see the hard drive....

There is another option! Iv looked inside the overdrive and it looks like a stanard ide HDD i know it wont fit in the 1200 cos its a 3.5" but with a little modding im sure i can sort summat' Anyway cos its a ide hdd would it act as a standard 2.5" drive???

Cheers guys :)

Ps. I dont have the AQ install disk... Oh and i do have a complete set of WB3.1 (got it off the net lol) And iv tryed it on WinUAE and it installs fine with the same settings as my 1200 just with a standard HDD tho...

I did use to have an big hd in my A1200, you just need a fysical adapter to hook it up + power from the flop..

I don't think that is a good idea, since large laptop hd's are cheap second hand.. And looking at all the psu probs reported here, I would not go for that...

You can also prepare the hard disk with winuae, my personal method:

Partition and format it on the real amiga.

Do the rest from winuae..just add the real hardrive to the pc, you can also go over usb-> ide then... (lots of cheep hardware available)

Cheers for the head ups' Your prob right about the psu load that could be a prob on a standard amiga psu...

Edit... I was thinking of just getting a hdd of ebay' Seems more of a simple solution! At least that way i can bugger my AQ hdd up at leisure lol....

I can offer you a 40 GB for 12.50 EU, inc shipping but it won't be quick to arrive, so maybe looking local?

You still need the ide cable!
