I flashed my new Gotek with the latest firmware and everything seems to work great except I can't get games to detect that I've switched to position 002 (for example) where the disk 2 adf is when a game requests it. Has anyone else run into this problem? I've tried 2 different usb drives that other users have confirmed as compatible and formatted multiple times with no luck. The firmware notes suggest this issue was resolved in an earlier release so I'm not sure why I'm having trouble.

Just checking, you have loaded the disk 2 into position 2 via the selecter.adf right?

Hehe yes. :p

I've actually gotten a single-disk game to recognize a blank adf in position 002 but then it wouldn't recognize the game disk in position 001 afterwards so I'm really not sure where the problem lies.

I would try re-flashing.

I think you're right. I used the high speed com port setting with a cheap serial adapter so maybe something went wrong. I'll update...

Thanks again!

Well I did a full wipe of the firmware and flashed at 9600. Loaded up Shadow of the Beast 2 which I hadn't tried before and it successfully found disk 2! My happiness was short lived though after I tried the previous games that didn't work (Defenders of the Crown, Eye of the Beholder, Summer Games) and they still didn't work. The floppy indicator doesn't even attempt to load to see if the disk is there. Maybe there's just something wrong with all the adf's I have?

Hi! Same problem here. I just tested Soccer Kid. It loads disk 0, when it is time to change, after clicking on button to insert 002, a brief blink on the read led is shown but no swap detected by the game. I have tested only on A2000 with 030 card. Will try latter on A500 stock

At least I'm not insane! :D I'll try Soccer Kid later just to see if I have the same problem.

hello again. Today I have tested Lion Heart. Result: with GVP combo 030 enabled, it didnt loaded the first disk. Installed GVP install disk and I executed a small prog that turns off the card and performs a reboot. Now I have loaded the Lion Heart BUT still no luck with soccer kid. What kind of machine are you using??? Any accelerator card? If so, the problem can be there like in my case... What games have you tried out? Can you name one or two just for testing??
Cheers,
Jorge

I'm running Amiga 500 with 512 chip upgrade.

I tried Soccer Kid last night and couldn't even get it to boot so I didn't even get to test the disk swap issue.

So far I have confirmed the issue with Defenders of the Crown, Eye of the Beholder, Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon and Summer Games. The only game that has worked for me on disk 2 is Shadow of the Beast 3.

hi my friend! I have tested the above games and all worked on A2000 with GVP activated. When the games asked to change disk, they took a little to find the game "inserted" on the drive, but they loaded fine. My version of Summer Games has only one disk, but loaded too. I think that you need to reflash the Gotek, maybe with a lower baud rate to ensure that there is no error on data transfer Please, try to format the usb pendrive and copy over the selector.adf. Could be damaged and not inserting the adf files in the slots without add some corruption to the files

I set up a gotek yesterday on a a500. I tested with cannon fodder and had some issues with changing disk. What I did find was when it asked to change to disk 2 I changed it but the screen stayed blank and the green led would flash every 5 seconds. Change back to disk 1. Gotek led will flash once more then change back to disk 2 and it would read it.
It's a pain but managed to get it reading that game anyway

Has anyone actually got disk swapping working properly? I am yet to have anyone 100% confirm that they can.

I've never had a problem with disk swapping. I press next disk button, wait a few seconds for it to be loaded and click mouse button at prompt if needed and it continues.

I need to do more testing. I will try some other USB keys I have and if that does not work I will reflash the drive. I hope its not got to do with the hardware itself.

OK looks like it was an issue with the ADF's. Did more testing and downloaded a different set of ADF's for Cannon Fodder. These worked first time. Just the saving seems to be an issue but I have read a few people having this issue. Now to find a decent archive of ADF's that all work.

Bumping thread to help those with Soccer Kid and a gotek floppy emulator.

Soccer Kid requires you to have the disk 2 adf in the DF1 floppy drive. Thats' the reason you can't swap to disk 2 in the DF0. Its looking in DF1.

You need two gotek floppy emulators to play soccer kid, one in DF0 and one in DF1. The game will then automatically load disk 2 from DF1 and let you play. I did have trouble saving my game with a blank .adf file in DF0 after the first boss. This may be due to a limitation with saves and the gotek floppy emulator.

I haven't played through to the 2nd boss so I don't know if eventual disk swaps will work, but having a gotek in df 1 will allow you to play through the beginning of the game.

Re: Soccer kid, stumbled upon this thread.

I have set a gotek on an A500 rev 6a with 1mb chipram hack.
I also set the external gotek as DF0, by bending pin 7 from the even CIA chip upwards and putting a jumper on the floppy drive pin header (pins 5-6 on the bottom row). Issue is I can load game normally but cannot get any music, only SFX, even in the actual game.

Is this game so stubborn that it must detect 2x drives in order to work correctly?

And regarding adfs, yes I tried 3x different ones, all the same issue..

Hello. I am having the same problem with Flash Back game and Pinball Dreams. I´ve tried a lot of different adf´s. Flashback for example, the first disk is fine, the introduction. But when the system asks for the second disk, I select the second position in Gotek, and it doesn´t recognize the second disk. I have a real Amiga 500 with a Gotek, I am not trying this in an emulator. Does someone have any idea or a place to find good adf´s?
