Only just noticed this thread. Very interesting, and much cheaper than the dedicated floppy emulators already existing.

Just wondering, would it be something worth considering for someone with a flasher and experience of setting these up to consider a bulk order of these, flash them all and ship them to members? I reckon a group buy thread for these would generate quite some interest.

Or to do so and sell them at the next retro event Amibay attends.

i can order and flash them, i'll pop a thread on if required

@mjnurney If you were willing that would be brilliant. I might even grab one from you if you did (as I don't have much spare time to fiddle around at the moment myself flashing and testing things).

for sale thread up on the Amiga section and i'll order a few to do :-)

I have used a 8gb sandisk and a cheapo 8gb drive and both are fine

I have put mine in 0 to Z folders i hope the new version comes out soon to have upto 999 slots and selector in root

That sounds like the best option, I will more than likely to just use one flash drive for software and another one for games, the 8GB drives are cheap enough and will hold a heck of a lot of ADF's :)

@mjnurney

Brilliant service idea M8, I like to do my own repairs and things like this but its not everyone's cup of tea especially when things like the programmer can't talk to the device without umpteen attempts (a bit off-putting). Your service will save a lot of that hassle so I wish you good luck on your venture

I flashed one of these fine today. Did it with a £2.40 USB stick from Ebay and soldered the wires directly I had to the board then melted them off.

Thought I would try and cheat and use a floppy connector to do the power, but it refused to flash. Soon as I wired up all 5 lines to the device it worked first time

Its pretty easy really :D

It is always worth to try and do it by yourself, surely there will be updates in the future and hardware is cheap

Just wondered if this could be used in an external drive case. Is it possible to get the a500 or a1200 to boot from an external drive?

Try connecting the RX and TX cables the other way round, I had a lot of bother with mine when I tried to reflash it but swapping the cables around helped. Sometimes though the device is just being difficult but it will reprogram if you keep trying.

I Have done it you Have too go into Device Manager and change the setting for the driver in the port settings tab you change the bits per second to 115200 then it will flash

I am wondering if relokick works with the gotek? So that you load relokick file first via gotek and can then access adfs afterwards?

I set the speed in the flasher software which was already on 115200 but I have just looked at the Com port in device manager and it was at 9600. When my next Gotek arrives I will give it a go (I have now set the speed in device manager to 115200) and see if that has done the trick

That is good news about your successful flashing, I never even gave it a thought about going into device manager to set the speed there. I ordered another Gotek last night so it should be here in about a week or so from Hong Kong (same place I got my first one from). Lets hope you have found the solution to the connection problems as they can be quite frustrating ;)

Relokick should work fine as it's just a floppy image , I'll try it in a bit

You have too let me know how you get get on allen1 when you get your next drive
