hey you still spying on me LOL, as for my thread it's will start again when I've finished the back plate (Nearly done) and fitted the 500+ board (Board standoffs are fitted inside the case). But I am waiting for the audio connecters to arrive, so I can drill the holes for them..

Here's a few pics of what I've done so far with my 500+ tower project, as you can see still a long way to go. But as I get more done I'll add more pics... Oh the blue tape is just to holed the cables temporary in place. Till the cable tie holders arrive. Then I can tidy up the wires...

Oh. I think that I swap the RGB and the SERIAL ports around

Looks pretty nice with the backplate, but I take it you aren't going to use the expansion port?

Well I am after a one of those 500 Supra ram 500RX 8 MB expansion (for the expansion port) , as it will fit in the ATX case (I left room for it) But I will have to remove it from it's original casing, and then I'll have 16GB of fast ram (The Accelerator is a CSA Mega Midget Racer with the 8MB RAM card). But so far no luck in finding one. If anyone has one for sale. Please PM me...

Looking good so far. I like the clean look to the rear ports

Keep us up to date as you go :-)

I sure will Thanks.. Ash..

Oh, By the way. The ICD flicker fixer wouldn't fit, as the video hybrid was way too high, so I had to solder it under the 500+ board (horizontal)

16GB is RAM should be quite enough for most stuff, for example preloading loading all WHDload games on the ramdisk.. Also, those pictures are quite old, or you forgot to set the clock. Yes, I tend to be pedantic. :)

LOL, you should have soldered the video hybrid under the board instead :D

Those pictures are new (I did them yesterday).. I never set the camera clock...

Yeah your right LOL... Now I wonder how many headers (On the processor socket) that I'll need to get the racer board above the flicker fixer, as it'll go over the top of the Paula chip...

Update guys my 500+ tower project is nearing completion, as you can see it's all wired up and no more room on the back plate for labels LOL.. I am waiting on a DB23 pin female connecter to arrive, then I can finish the RGB video port. After that, I'll install the 030 Racer accelerator card (With 8MB of fast ram). But for now (Can't do much till the female connecter arrives). I'm working on the floppy cage, as it was riveted in place, so I'm gonna use screws to holed it in place for easy removal (The DF0 floppy drive is a converted PC one), and I have ordered a External Disk drive (For this project), so I'll fit all it's guts into the case. That way there will be a DF1 drive in the case too. Good eh???..

Oh. The 40GB hard-drive (Already partitioned, with classic WB installed) will be at the bottom of the case (Holes already drilled for it)...

Please feel free to ask me any questions about this 500 + build....

What kind of HDD controller will you be using?

edit: Nevermind, I see now you mentioned IDE68K in first post.

Yep. I like them, so I bought 2 of them. One for this project, and another one (for my other 500)...

Another update guys. My 500+ tower is getting near the finish line, as most is done. Except for the DF1 drive (I'm waiting for it to arrive, so I can fit it's guts into the case), and getting the RGB connecter done too...:D It's more like a 3000 in tower case now. Wouldn't you say...

Oh which is pin 1 on the the converted PC floppy drive (Looking from the back)...

Guys. My 500+ Tower project is finished, and is up and running (Will boot up). But one problem. When booted from a WB disk, I have over 1.6MB of chip ram (No fast ram yet). However, when booted from the hard-drive, I have only 44,424 of chip ram left. Where has the rest gone, and since the chip ram is very low, the computer will crash sometimes (When loading a floppy disk)..Also the CSM racer board disk is useless, as there's nothing on it it that can be installed, so how can I get the 8MB of fast ram working..On WINUAE using the same Classic WB (ADVSP)without any fast ram. The chip ram left is 462,568. Whats going on.

Please I need help with this problem...

Oh, Maybe using a 40GB hard-drive has gobbled up most of the chip ram eh??

Dont you have to load the MMR utility to activate the Fast RAM on the MMR?

What is being loaded in the startup on the hard drive?

Yeah I found that out (It's a CLI command line). But with such low chip ram nothing will run.. Not even the dir program will load... Maybe the OS has used up most of the chip ram... But not in WINUAE though (It shows almost 1/2 MB left)...
