Been a while since I updated this project, amoungst my A4000T bits was a Subway USB, only fair to put it to use somewhere :)
So my A600 gets USB at last, oh and I now have an ACA630 overclocked to 40mhz :o

More to come when I mount the USB ports, I have a case lid I already Cut before so I will be using that one

Tested the USB and its working perfect, nice and quick with the 40mhz 030

Steve.

I need to stop reading the A600 threads, they are making me feel guilty/sad for not sorting mine out by now... Stuck doing all the boring adult stuff like fence building at the mo... I have promised myself the Christmas break!

@Rakeim132: replacing the 50HMz crystal for a 80MHz one. Simple as this.

Hi Steve,

Tested the USB and its working perfect, nice and quick with the 40mhz 030

Looking your setup, I'm thinking to upgrade my A600. So, I just need to install a socket for the crystal and change the oscillator for one 80Mhz?

The ACA630 runs stable at this speed?

Best wishes

This is my old ACA, i changed the CPU for a full 50mhz rated CPU and then the crystal.

It was rock solid at 40mhz.

It's easy as desoldering the crystal and putting a new one.

Running stable above 30MHz it's pure luck and totally per case though as ACA630 is not designed for clock higher than 30MHz (due to memory clocking)
Since it works... it just rox :D

Also to mention, my project Motherboard wont take the 40mhz ACA, only black screen.

So you must also have a solid motherboard too. I think mine needs Caps doing.

Lucky I have a couple of spare A600's so I swapped out the Motherboard and its rock solid at 40mhz

Thanks Amigafanboi

Nice one! I was lucky I was one of the few who managed to get my hands on the rare 64Mb ACA630s so I wouldn't dare to upgrade/mod it, but may consider getting a second one for playing with. I too have spare A600s:ninja:

You have my envy there! I missed out for being too slow to decide (I had an Apollo 630 so was unsure about the purchase)

Needless to say I kind of regret that now, although 32mb is enough on this little machine and running at 40mhz is awesome, feels much faster.

I agree, I wouldn't mess with the rare beast you have :butcher

Steve.

Howdy folks!

I added some USB sockets, I used a spare case (not the A600HD one)

They look OK and are functional :)

Need to tidy up with a small file when I have some more time, but they work

Steve

Looking good there, Fitz.

When you installed the Indy ECS with kipper2k's adapter, did you remove the riser socket from the bottom of the Indy has he had instructed in his thread at EAB? What tool did you use?

Those anchors in the RF modulator, are they just anchoring the metal case or do they anchor the PCB inside? I've been thinking that I'd left the RF case and just remove the innards. Other place where I've been thinking to put the VGA connector, if you look at the pic behind the link, there's a small space on the right just behind the joystick ports. Would it fit there?

What can I say.....

You must got Balls to do the Modding the Amiga when you havnt had much Experience of Modding But thanks to Amiga Amibay forum for Guiding ya if you are  on how to do it

I will say

WELL DONE :bowdown: :bowdown: :bowdown::thumbsup:

I changed the two 7.5 ns SDRam by two 5 ns on my ACA630, and with a new quartz I'm now at 42.50 Mhz ! :)
