Stunning says Amiga format 3/10
blew my mind says CU 2/10

Please be nice im SENSITIVE!

Well here it is a quick (ish) text adventure by me. Built using inform7 and interpreted on the Amiga with Frotz.

This is an early version - not complete but you can 'win' as put an escape route in it, so that you can explore and end the game. Some rooms and features are missing...

I will try to update it weekly - Sunday night usually.

have fun and let me know what you think - its rough and is more of a working example of the commands for my slow laborious learning rather than a finished game but try it, its meant to be fun...

Yes...there are errors , spelling, locations, missing descriptions - im learning!

EDIT - trying graphics and multimedia effects.

*************************************************
Copy all the files from the .adf to a drawer and click on frotz

(when copying make sure you have - view all files on in workbench)

or download interpreters here - Amiga / windows / mac os & more

http://www.inform-fiction.org/zmachine/interpreters.html

*******************************
Frotz runs on my minimig with 1.5 mb chip ram (with hard drive).

earlier thread...

INSTRUCTIONS:

1)download and unzip 3 zip files, copy to the Amiga via .adf

2) copy all files from frotz1 (all files) & frotz2 (source drawer) to a drawer (whatever you called it) & click frotz to play (view all files)

3) locate the .zblorb file (starship supernova in this instance) and click on the .zblorb - the game will begin (its on the game.adf)

** starship supernova.zblorb.zip is only required for play on MAC/PC

** if you cant get the frotz to work from my .adf use the link above to download frontz.zip to your Amiga

and away you go...

(it is a little slow on a 7mhz Amiga)

Hi MJ - to play this do I need to run Frotz first then the Starship Supernova game?

J

yes my friend, download and unzip both , copy to the Amiga

open the frotz drawer and click on frotz - it will ask for a .zblorb file (the game)

and away you go...

welcome to my world...

Thorin sits down and starts singing about gold..

Haha - I actually did LOL there. I'll have a wee go tomorrow when I'm back from my hill walk (I'm doing a wee 10 mile round trip hill walk). Looking forward to it and by the way - very well done on this!

John

great stuff John,

good luck with that walk tomorrow!!!

a wee walk!

@mjnurney: Thanks for your efforts! I'll surely give it a try :)

i have a lot to do yet with this..

people in the game
traps
puzzels
conversations
machines / vehicles

and inform7 specific stuff
scenery , distance
objects, time, weight, gravity, temperature etc , etc

lots to do and learn, i will add to this simple game untill i have the hang of most things and then start a fresh game which should have structure - unlike this one.

my favourite game is Hobbit on the spectrum - first time i ever say graphics in an adventure - so maybe simple graphic in one of my games too?

who knows..

ohh and a horror / murder story maybe - some one after you blah blah blah

mmm...

I can't imagine I'll be making any follow up games - I had enough trouble getting the flashlight to work!

I can't imagine I'll be making any follow up games - I had enough trouble getting the flashlight to work!

Now the troubles start...

The post man has just dropped off my Amos programming book and I've ordered the inform7 manual..

Now i have the inform7 manual , i'll be revising this and making it more interesting. not sure if anyone plays these anymore? possibly not...

Anyway i believe i can add graphics too, some experimentation needed

I'll have a look at your game when I get a chance - sorry but the wedding video has priority at the minute.

Dave G

Hope you liked it, the time limit is really to hide the lack of content in the game yet,
. I will remove the limit when I expand the game somemore and add features. It's all a bit basic at the minute...

I'm pleased someone played it :-)

well, I've found the way out of there to 'win', but not yet managed to replace the broken thing with the working thing... ;)

It's good! If you want someone to proofread it I'd be happy to.
