I've noticed that there are new New Kickstart 3.X ROMs from Cloanto around.
Does anyone have first hand experience with these? Are they worth buying or should I just stick to the 3.1 ROMs and avoid issues?

There are many reports on other forums that there are issues with them, better wait until they're resolved.

Some people call it crippled software, some people have no problem with that, the others have lots of issue etc...

since my floopy drives were not operable after installing ROM3.X chips to my A1200, i just throwed them away.

I am using 3.9+boingbags 3 & 4.

I also briefly used ClassicWB Full.

I saw people having problem with floppy drives but couldn't repeat the problems they were having on my machine. The workbench disks I was using is also the Cloanto supplied version 3.1

I forgot to mention I am also using a Blizzard 1230IV

Bought the 3.x ROM for my A4000... and the floppy drive isn't working anymore, plus the Picasso IV flicker fixer isn't displaying anything anymore on native modes... Swapped back to the original ROM and all is fine now. ?

Thats a very interesting issue indeed, by any chance have you informed Cloanto?

If so did they give you any advice on the matter?

I still have to inform them. I will provide feedback here as soon as they reply.

Cloanto were supposed to have been sorting this out months ago, the floppy drive issue isn't confined to just the A4000 but it occurs on all models apparently. I should get in touch with them, they was working on the floppy issue but I don't know about the flicker fixer, it's the first I've heard of it so it's best to report it and find out.

My floppy drive was working (I don't use it all that often, to be fair). Unfortunately, my mobo is now in need of repair (unrelated) so I can't test for you at the mo'.

My floppy drive is not original though, if that would make a difference...

Even a Gotek wasn't working anymore, so I doubt that it is related to the original drive. My A4000 is a A4000CR Rev D (the cost reduced version).

I am running 3.x in my a600 with no problems. Is this something that is only effecting the 4000?

I am currently running wb 3.1, but it'll get 3.9 as soon as the vampire arrives ;)

Hmm, I wonder if that's why I've been having floppy drive issues with my A4000...

*wanders off to investigate*

Almost 2 weeks and no reply whatsoever from Cloanto... :-( Won't be buying anything from them anymore.

I bought some 3.x roms for my 4000D in May. Although the computer works and floppies have no issues I couldn't get my Retina BLT card to work, after asking a couple of people I've not bothered with them anymore.

Same here, not going to bother with any of their products anymore.
