Hey Folks!

I am 40 years old and new here on Amibay. As a kid a owned an Amiga 500 which I loved a lot. However, in the mid 90s PCs became more interesting in some way or another, and I had some of them ever since. But it never was the same feeling again as it used to be with my Amiga.

Two years ago, the craving became too strong and I decided to engage in Amiga stuff again. I bought an old Amiga 1200, and it was a lot of fun to get it clean and make it work again. This nice fellow did not stay the only one though: It was accompanied by an Amiga 500, then an Amiga 2000, a Commodore 1084 monitor, and so on, and so on. Finally, also a Sam460ex was added.

What should I say: The good old feeling of the times when computers were fun is back, and I hope it'll stay for a looong time now! :)

And I am looking forward to sharing this feeling with many of you who just feel the same! :D

I'm completely new to Amiga, but I have seen the Sam460ex (one was recently snatched up on Ebay). I thought about bidding on it myself since I am quite at home with embedded controllers, and let's face it, that's what this is (it also happens to run Amiga OS).

But I was concerned about how ACube has appeared to abandon them. They list it on their website, but you can't buy one there. So what made you decide to take the plunge with the ACube? It doesn't look like it's going to be supported going forward.

@rootboy:
Well, I just became too curious about Amiga OS 4, and the price for an X1000 was just more than what I wanted to spend. That's all.

Absolutely!

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome (also to all the others who responded to my post)!

If the manufacturer has abandoned them, then they are obsolete. Which makes them ideal fodder for this site!

You do have a point there... :)

Although I decided to play around with the ARM processor awhile back, and purchased mine from a company who will not be named. What I didn't know at the time was that this company's focus had moved on to the "next big thing", and myself and all of their other clients were left clamoring for bug fixes and how-to's in their forum.
