Which one would you really like to use.. yes, this is a rant because I'm wanting OS4.1 as something to play with and 'enjoy' rather than another windows box...

Neither Haiku nor ReactOS are on here, thbppt. DOS and WB1.3, then. Win7 changes too much and Win8 can go die in a fire.

I voted for linux, as it is my favorite daily os. Though I mis Aros and morphos in that list :blased:

I also don't see os/2 warp and further, Beos, minix, os/400, qnx .. (not much to choose)

and freebsd

and mac os 9 or lower. (complete different os)

and mobile phones symbian os. and palm os (obsolete)

All these votes for DOS 6.22... I'm not going back to that! I'll order an OS4 machine tonight in retaliation! :p Where did I put my money tree?

Some of the OS's you guys know are new to me, I shall check them out

DOS may be primitive, but at least it doesn't drag you through trendy new "innovations" that just complicate things in order to sound more advanced on paper...

no 3.1, 3.5 or 3.9:(

i voted win7, i'm actually liking the look of it now that i have installed a custom theme:)

it's a shame there have been a number of good PC OSes that went by the wayside, effectively killed off by Windows....

BeOS
GeoWorks Ensemble....i think someone is trying to bring this back (Breadbox?) but feels a bit like....too little too late..

http://www.breadbox.com/

(looking more like a 95/98 knockoff)

to name just a couple...

I've used many operating systems and they don't really excite me, but i voted Windows 7 as i use it the most and i've been perfectly happy with it :)

I've never had any particular issues with Windows 7 or XP and i consider them the best things M$ has put out (excluding the NT series of OSes which i used only briefly in the mid-late 90s)

95 was poor, but 95sr2 was usable
same with 98, the Second Edition was more usable than its initial release.
Millennium and Vista should never have existed...

Ahem,,,

RISC OS for me pls, closely followed by OS/2

Bit of useless info for you folks...

OS/2 was jointly developed my MS and IBM to be the successor to DOS ie true 32bit multitask blah blah OS...etc...
Until they had a massive fallout over the GUI, Microsoft wanted Program Manager and IBM wanted Presentation Manager.
So they went separate ways......they both owned the code so......

IBM went ahead with Presentation Manager and released OS/2 to the public

Microsoft stuffed Program Manager on the OS/2 kernal called it Windows NT 3.5 and released that......

Through all revisions of Windows NT right up to Windows 7 exists chunks of the OS/2 kernal, NTFS of course is the IBM HPFS a la OS/2 renamed and tweaked....
Guess OS/2 is still with us in some shape or other....

Sad innit, have Microsoft ever produced anything of their own entirely from scratch.....NO

TC

That's spot on TC, bill gates once said Linux was the future of the PC too. Untill the cheques came in from Windows and then that was it.

Microsofts way of doing business is shameful or was, they have better lawyers now.
