Because I don't know enough about scopes to know that I might need that. I asked another technically minded Amibayer (TheCorfiot) if it looked like it would fit my needs. He said yes, so I went for it. Really, it will kickstart me into learning about scopes and I'm sure I'll figure out what I need from there.
I know there's a 50MHz version of this scope that can be upgraded with a firmware patch to the 100MHz version that I purchased. I just didn't want to void my warranty right out of the box.

There are actually a ton of reviews about this particular scope that are most likely a million times better than anything I could put together with my limited knowledge. Still, I may do a review from a beginner's perspective once I've had some time to work with it. That may be valuable to others in my situation.are you going to do a review of some of the features of this oscilloscope in the future?
Exactly! The 100MHz version was previously hundreds of dollars more so it was worth getting the less expensive one to hack. I believe there is currently about a $70 difference between the models so I decided to go with the officially supported 100MHz model.

My pickups from the videogame market
I think i did ok, i didnt buy anything until the very end as i was a very busy boy all day

vectrex mutlicart was from retrotowers who did me a nice deal, its all cased up now and in the vectrex.
2 hyper neo geo boards (buriki one and samurai showdown), 3 dc games were from a fellow forum seller and a 32x .
So i achieved my aim in not bringing back more than i sold at least

Postman brought these for me yesterday!
ACA500 and a classic Action Replay 3 for the Amiga 500. (Sadly I cant use them at the same time!)
I also have an ACA1232 so will be pimping my A500 up to a 68030 with 128mb today!
Incidentally, does anyone know if the stock A500 PSU will struggle to run this setup, should I hack a PC psu for the job?

I'm using an A500 (4.5amp) PSU here with my A500+/ACA500 and it's fine, if you have any problems then go for a converted ATX but you should be OK as long as the PSU is serviceable.

Impulse buy, my FZ-1 is still going strong although it had a close shave with some leaking caps a few months back. Just couldn't resist those matching boxes!!
