Glad I took a chance on a AMTRADE "Real" HD floppy drive on eBay.
When it arrived the drive was not working i.e not spinning.
On inspection i noticed resistor R9 was missing, but upon checking the BBOAH website I discovered that two wires had been removed off the drive which connected to the floppy header and the two points at R9.
I soldered them back on and the drive came to life but it still had read issues..
Well after half an hour using AmigaTestKit's head calibration, drive now reads perfectly with both DD & HD disks
here is some pictures including the eBay auction pictures showing the drive before I put the wires on.
the circuitry of the adapter PCB doesn't seem that complicated surprised its not been reproduced
BBOAH mentions a sony drive version I wonder what the difference is and if it need a mod done to it like this TEAC version.
I ordered this from an eBay seller in America while ago. Had to use MyUS.com to transport it, as the seller wouldn't ship international. Now I am thoroughly researching making my v1.0 Mediator board capable of 3.3v so I can give it a try!
Hopefully it works, as it was sold "untested" - however, the fact that it still had the protective film on the PPC chip when it arrived holds me in good hope that it is brand new and unused!
This is really pre-computer I suppose but still thought I'd share it here as I find it cool to now own something pre-IBM from 1933 or earlier.
Not sure what it was used for but you could obviously borrow it from the The Tabulating Machine Company (and someone didn't return it.... )
It was a long Kickstarter but there were a lot of changes to make it the monitor what it is now. Once monitor completion & shipping of monitors was confirmed not too long but i did pay for mine quickly and he did say that he would ship in the order of when you paid.
not gonna lie its the most expensive monitor I've ever bought but it is versatile and the amount of inputs is amazing.
Double Dragon I have played seem be poorer game sadly and I seen auctions from someone paying paying silly price just for double dragon Evercade games (I think it is Over rated as there are better Evercade games out there like bitmap brother collections, codemaster collections and so on)
