Hi which service do people in the UK use for shipping please ?

This is my problem I am not at home most of the time so I have to use the post office I have many things for sale but the postage to Europe and UK is killing me I like to send insured and signed for.

What other options do I have I also find if I chooses for collection I can not rely on the time the courier turns up I feel very frustrated and starting to bin my gear :( I need the room.

Thanks Jamie.

I generally use Special Delivery for everything... Expensive yes but it's normally next day before 1pm and if you miss them they take it to the nearest sorting office for pickup. Trouble is they'll only take up to 10Kg..

I've had bother with myhermes and I've only sent a hand full of parcels with them!

I prefer getting in the car and driving to pick things up... Sometimes you find a fellow enthusiast at the other end and get a free cup of tea and some biscuits :)

good thing with hermes/UPS is most nearby off licence / convenience stores allow drop of upto 11pm, although not the most reliable services I use for large bulky items, and use Post Office for smaller more expensive items.

I tend to use UPS drop off service through parcel2go. It costs about £8 (with a standard £50 compensation) to send up to 10kg across the UK (Europe varies) and i drop the parcel off at a local shop at the end of the road.

UPS pick it up from there and deliver next day in the UK and within 5 days across Europe usually.

It really depends on weights and destinations. UPS drop shop has already been mentioned and is a great service and it is cheaper if you send shop to shop and this has the advantage of your customer not having to wait in either.

I personally ship alot of stuff every week and would be happy to help via pm if you wanted to give me an example of a typical weeks postage I might be able to help direct you to the best services to suit your own individual needs. Everybody is different after all :).

ps) I would suggest you don't send anything to precious or high value with myHermes or Collect+ as it will undoubtedly cause you greif in the long run

I often use Parcel2go.com for couriers to collect from me, but for the first time in a long time I actually worked out Royal Mail were cheaper for me to send an item to Europe with International Tracked and Signed for service with £250 insurance cover added.

Thanks all for your help I need a rethink many thanks to BluesBrothers for your offer also.
