Important change!

All Orders (ex current Interest Queue) from this point on will be shipped as almost ready to run Kits. You will need to solder the Thru-Hole parts yourself. All parts needed to use the device are packed. The SMD Parts are soldered to the PCB and the CPU is programmed with the latest Firmware. The Board is being tested by me prior to shipping. As a benefit the prices will drop.

There will be a manual showing what and how to solder the TH components available on GitHub soon.

--> For people already on the Interest Queue let me know if you prefer the "kit" for the new price.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VERSION 3.0.0 is released.

Please check the GitHub Page.

It changes quiet a few things!
  • Large changes in address checks
  • Random Data & Retention Tests are run twice to have all Bits checked in set and reset state
  • New LED Status Codes. The initial codes were planed when there were only a few RAMs to test. Should be simpler to understand
  • Added Tests to try and figure out if actually a RAM is inserted - if a RAM is really dead it is still not detected
  • Streamlined Error Texts
  • Added Support for 4816 (16k x 1) RAM
  • Added Support for 4116 RAM via DCDC Adapter Board - not ready yet
  • Code refactored in separate files to simplify maintenance
  • Fixed a few bugs:
    • 41256 / 514400 Patterns 0 and 1 only checked the first 256 Cols due to an error. As those are checked with the following Patterns so this is not a major bug
    • Fixed a Bug in Retention Testing that might lead to chips being detected as working while in fact they are broken
All this leads to better testing for the price of up to a few seconds per CHIP -> See updated Timing in the opening Post of this thread.

This is how the Kit looks like:

Hi everyone,

here is the prototype 4116 Adapter. It just plugs into the ZIF Socket. If you set it to 20Pin the Adapter is automatically recognized if you are running 3.x.x Firmware.
It has 2 LED to show availability of -5V and +12V just in case your RAM has Shorts the LED will go out.

BEWARE: This is a prototype Version for the 4 People actually waiting in the QUEUE. I has a minor design flaw - the Coil for the 12V Converter has a wrong footprint. If you are ok with a prototype you can get one of the other 6 remaining. Those are completely soldered. If you agree with a Prototype: You are aware of the stage of the HW. Use at your own risk there is no short protection, it may interfere with other thing etc... just power it when you use it. By indicating you want one of those, you agree to these limitations

The ZIF Socket is not flat on the PCB due to the connections to the underlying ZIF Socket. This is a deliberate design decision since when you apply force on the lever to close the ZIF Socket, it is better to have the other ZIF Socket right below the second one in order not to toggle the whole RAM Tester over and to keep a small footprint.

Price for this part is 10.- in the final version if you want to add it to a RAM Tester order.

item was received, i had 8 ram chips to test, one of them was marked faulty by this devide, I did not put that chip back to my amiga but i guess it's telling the truth, i for sure had a bad chip, so for me it works fine.
Only problem is the customs, in order to get the tester here in italy i had to pay an extra 13 euros of custom fee probably because switzerland is outside UE.
Apart of this, positive feedback to the seller, the device seems well built and working fine

Tester received and tested. It works very well. I also received it in Italy, but I didn't have to pay any extra money or anything. My ratings are positive. Thank you very much.

Declaring interest. If still available, new version with screen, to be sent to the Netherlands , please

Tester received 👌

I've tested several chips and they work well. I don't have the 4116 chip, but I've ordered a few and will test the new adapter when it arrives.

Declaring interest in this nice tester, I don't think I need the adapter board as I only need to test C64 and Amiga chips, if so please let me know.
