....
I do wish that they hadn't ****ed off Norman Lovett (Holly) three years ago and he was back in it. The extra character and his dry wit was a good complement for the show.

do you know the reason behind that or what happened?

I was under the impression he just didn't want to do it any more.

he moved further away so didn't want to travel to rehearsals, but didn't want to take a pay cut for doing less work either, so he was dropped and has sulked about it on myspace ever since

He is quoted as saying Dave asked him to keep his diary free for a part in "Return to Earth" in 2008. Production started, the script was written and he didn't have a part, and they didn't even call to tell him they didn't need him.

I did like the joke about something being "smaller than the fruit and veg section of a scottish supermarket". Very old skool Rimmer.

No more Holly.

I thought it was fine. Had some laugh out loud moments. But there was something about it that made it feel cheap. Maybe it's because it was made for Dave and most of the channel's original output has been p*ss poor so far.
But overall, it was good to have it back especially as it replaces Mock the Week repeats.

I always preferred female Holly, apart from Queeg. He was good in that.

I liked it, not as much as I thought I might, but I had a chuckle several times. It was actually a little better the second time round as I watched the repeat at 1140 as well.
Looking forward to the rest now. :)

hmmm Hattie Hayridge... very good...;) She's 52 now :(

I enjoyed the new RDX, better than IX but not quite as good as 1-5/6. I think someone else commented on cat being a bit tame and he was...

Red Dwarf was always made on the cheap and that was half the charm of it. The last couple of series did polish it up a bit that is true, but it is still not meant to be a big budget production. I don't think it felt any different.

the cheap sets where part of the humor for me ,when for instance you get a glimse of a pc joystick or a c64 3 million years in the future.

i wonder if they will have the scutters in it at any point?

Maybe cheap was the wrong word. Not as polished maybe..?
Some quality I felt wasn't there that would probably of been if it was still on the Beeb.
But, regardless, I liked it. We've got Red Dwarf back. Bottom is coming back next year (as Hooligan's Island). I wonder if Blackadder has any comeback plans?

there is a rumour of Blackadder being the 13th disciple and Judas (bauldrick) wasn't a bad person at all, just that Blackadder kept setting him up.

just rumours though

the more they "polish" red dwarf the less i like it..
somethings are just fine how they are..
i preferd the old lighting and drab colours of the 1st serise(s)? i dont think you can pluralise that word hmm.

i never liked anything CGI, or "enhanced" makingthings more vibrant just isnt for me.. my tv has a colour adjustment if i want vibrant lol..

but having said all that i do belive that the serise is going to be a bigger success than the last effort which took them to coronation street..

i dont think we will ever have episodes like rimmer world or rimmer squared again. but i do hope that a few more classic eppisodes are still to come. I will just have to try and ignore the sterile sets which are over compensating with vibrant colours.

This.

I love the silly puppet effects from the first seasons, some of the monsters bring a positive smile back to my face.
When they started to add the CGI efffects I started to hate it season by season.
When they released the Back to Earth episodes they felt completely different, the stages were bigger and brighter, more of them shot outside of a studio, the costumes looked so bright and colorful like designed by Liberace... :(
The story with that twist at the end was kinda nice, but let's be honest, it was just an interpretation on one of the old episodes.

EDIT: okay, just saw the newest epi and I loves it. The old silly humor is back, the closed locations are back, the over-acting is back.
The sci-fi plot was a bit light in this one, but the character plots are enough to keep me from being bored.
Go episode 2!
