please download boot disk from https://www.mediafire.com/file/qtly6pa150b9lcr/Install.rar/file

create 2GB Partion on a SD Card (Tested up to 16GB SD Card)

format the 2GB Partion to fat32

insert it to the sd box

plug SD Box to the amiga

plug power to the sd box

boot from floppy that downloaded before

open mount folder

double click to SD0: icon

then SD icon will appear on workbench

Edit: i checked i have over 10 pcs but none ıf them work stand alone, you need to feed from usb port

It will not work without external power as there is a 47R resistor on parallel-port power line (at least in Amiga 500) so there is no chance that it will supply more than few miliampers without serious voltage drop.

actually it is working with specific version of arduino nano

Items received in good condition, however I cannot get them to function (yet). I note in ozkano's instructions (first post) it states "plug power to the sd box", however ozkano has previously stated via messages "mine does not requires extra power it takes from amiga," (sic).

I have tried several different MicroSD Cards (Tomato 1GB formatted to 1GB Fat32, Sandisk 8GB formatted to a single 2GB partition and Kingston 8GB formatted to a single 2GB partition). When attempting to mount SD0: the floppy light comes on and the entire system crashes.

Searching online I found this forum - https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=102642&page=2 - where several people are having the exact same problem, that being the system crashes instantly as soon as SD0: is mounted. Interestingly at least one poster obtained their SDBox from ozkano. The problem was rectified by connecting a stable 5v power supply to the SDBox..... however I am reticent to do so as ozkano previously stated his SDBox implementation does not require any external power (which was what attracted me to this particular model).

If ozkano can advise if it is safe to connect a 5v USB power source to the SDBox I will test to see if this fixes the issue.

sd box very sensetive to sd cards, not all of them works properly , please test with another computers and check your 8520s are o.k with amiga kit,

Have tested on: Amiga 500+ newly recapped with new 55 watt PSU. Have completed all tests with Amiga Test Kit - 100% pass. System crashes instantly on mounting SD0:

Have tested on: Amiga 1200 (recapped in 2021) with new 55 watt PSU and 4.97v on the 5v rail - AmigaKit Sensor. Have completed all tests with Amiga Test Kit - 100% pass. System crashes instantly on mounting SD0:

Have tried Sandisk 8GB, Kingston 8GB, Tomato 1GB, CUT 4GB and Amicroe 16GB. All, except the Tomato 1GB, were totally cleaned of partition information using Diskpart Clean command, then a single 2GB Fat32 partition was created and formatted. All cards crash instantly upon mounting SD0:

HOWEVER.....

......attaching a 5v supply via USB however does seem to fix the problem, and they now appear to be working fine. It seems these SDBoxes REQUIRE an external 5v supply, which incidentally is what others found on the aforementioned forum.

Have continued testing and all four units appear to function fine with ALL MicroSD cards I have tested (see above) as long as a 5v power supply is attached.

i have few sd cards that works without external power,i will upload video to night, if you are not happy in this situation i can refund , also if you want to continue to use with external power, there is a solder jumper in the backside of the pcb please remove it and install a diode beside it, for better protection

I can use them with an external USB adapter, though I would prefer if they were self contained - so running off the parallel port 5v supply is dependent on SD card? Okiez, can you please list a few MicroSD cards that definitely work without the external PSU? Thanks.

OKiez, I have a small update if this helps. I have now tried every different MicroSD card I have on hand with no external power connected and these are the results:

Sandisk 8GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Kingston 8GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Tomato 1GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
CUT 4GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Amicroe 16GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Kingston 16GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Sandisk 32GB Ultra - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Toshiba Exceria 16GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Chinese No Name 32GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Chinese No Name 64GB - instantly crashes upon mounting SD0:
Lexar 300X 32GB - Mounts without crashing! However SD0: is unintialised and cannot be accessed or formatted

All were cleaned by Diskpart Clean command and had a single 2048MB FAT32 Partition created.

I am thinking I will be forced to use an external power supply unless you can indicate some cards that are known to work.

If I do end up having to use these with external PSU's, exactly what do I need to do to make them "safe"? Just remove the solder jumper on the underside of the PCB near the connector and install a diode next to it? 1N4148 diode okay?

you tried lots of cards, the working ones mostly aee small cards like 1gb and 2gb cards and 512mb so far

i sold my most cards to customers with sd box as bundle

Okay, I just removed the solder jumper on the two pads and soldered in a 1N4148 diode.

When I plug it into the Amiga with no 5v power supply connected the red led still comes on - is that normal? Just want to be sure as I thought with the diode installed and jumper removed the unit would no longer be getting power from the parallel port.

Sorry, my mistake - with the diode connected the parallel port can still send 5v to the SDBox, but the Amiga is protected from current going back the other way into the parallel port.

?!?!? Deary me. Can you please show an image with the CORRECT direction of the diode to be safe? I was just about to modify the other three units! Thanks.
