Hi All!
I thought I'd start this thread as there seems to be a lot of confusion over the new site layout, I think we can try and help each other overcome this.
This thread isn't for reporting bugs, moaning about the site update or to vent any of your frustrations. It is only to give useful tips on the new layout and features to help users find what they are looking for.
There already exist threads you can make your comments about the site and report bugs:
https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?59907-Q-and-A-Ask-me-anything-about-the-new-Amibay
https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?59908-The-New-Amibay-Report-a-bug
Now, back to this thread.
Here are some of the new/changed features I have noticed.
'Whats new' button:
This button lists the new forum posts and replies, with the 'Activity Stream' you can quickly see the latest comments and jump into the post if you want to get involved.
The New Posts somewhat surprisingly will display all the latest posts. You can also look at new Articles, Blog entries and Events. These are new for Amibay, I have done a test Blog you can read here: https://www.amibay.com/entry.php?1-A-brief-History-of-my-Computers-and-Video-Games-Consoles I think this will be very useful for project threads as ties them to our accounts.
Forum>Quick links
This is a portal to quickly view 'Today's Posts' and your 'Subscribed threads' you can also find out whose online, including your friends or site moderators. useful if you want to report an issue, find your subscribed threads or quickly find again a thread you've read today but didn't subscribe to.
Forum>Forum Actions
Here you can mark all threads read or jump to the 'edit profile' or 'general settings' area's, I noticed under general settings you can change some of the ways you input data such as how text fields work and how you interface with images, this could be useful for mobile browsers or IPad's, etc.
Feedback
There is a new Feedback area where you can see the top traders and view all feedback, there is also a section you can put your most wanted item, I'm not sure how this will work yet but it could be useful if you are looking for something rare.
Member list/View profile
When you click on a members name now there is a lot more information, for example you can see at a glance their recent activity and have links to the new blog section where you can read their blog entries.
You can also quickly browse to their latest posts and threads started, view their homepage, feedback, etc.
When viewing your own profile you can click on the 'Find latest started threads' button to see a list of the threads you have started, this is very useful for managing your for sale, trade and wanted threads.
Settings Screen
This button is in the top right of the browser window and is where you can edit your profile and settings, when you navigate here you will see your subscribed threads that have unread replies, a nice quick way to catch up on any content you have missed.
From here you can view, send and manage you messages, update you signature, avatar and personal information.
I'll try to add more useful information as I find it. I hope this helps in some way!
Feel free to share you own findings to help others
