It used to be more ... Earlier this year I slimmed down the collection by quite a lot.

What are you trying to say? That it's OK for me to buy another Amiga because I'm a little girly-man with just wimpy seven real motherboard 1200s? Like 3 of them aren't even in wedge cases too (1000/CDTV/Checkmate1500).

I'll tell you why I appreciate you and your signature so much: I used to feel that seven 1200s was too many, but now I feel like I have room to grow. It won't help new Commodore, because I'm all about those original machines or MISTer FPGA. :-)

Jens got caught making as much money as possible at the cost of genuine amiga enthusiasts.

Yes i know he’s a businessman but meh!!!

Wont release files so apollo cards 1240/1260 can be repaired due to the mach chips failing. He said if someone offered him an extortionate amount of money he would produce some new mach 131 chips on a if he wants to case by case. He’s said publicly he wishes ALL apollo cards to die.

That’s 1.

2nd is his aca500. Got caught and publicly said it was crippled on purpose with 2mb ram to sell aca12xx range as addons and due to lying saying it wasn’t technically possible to add more than 2mb. He programmed his bios so if you added more than 2mb ram ( like the supra addon ) the aca500 would down clock the cpu crippling performance.

After much backlash the aca500+ was born to save face.

I understand hes a businessman but he put profits above community which he bangs on about being for the community making decisions to kill off old hardware in favour of crippled addons

Look at the aca1221 ( or whatever the number is ) unlock more ram, features or speed by purchasing a code to unlock the hardware like dlc that you already purchased. On par with buying a sports car and unlocking air con or anything above 100bhp. Car manufacturers are trying that now.

@Sardine,

Not going to defend Jens, because as I said, I don't know him. I had one email exchange with him about the ReLoaded 1200 and the rest I know from reading forums and my experience in the industry.

I'm thinking he's not exactly serving a huge market, but a niche market, that's shrinking actually. So even his latest sales data is probably often wrong. I mean, there were pieces on his site for a while about a 1260 card, but many of us, myself included, bought TFs because they were the bee's knees and they were here and ready at a great value. So, he invested R&D, time, software, resources up-front and who knows if he'll even get his money back? I'm sure he has costs - some place to build and keep these things, a person, his time in the bare minimum. I'd argue he's entitled to make a living, and I'm not sure he does with icomp. I mean, what would you estimate his annual sales are? You think he even hits a million Euro? After expenses, all the EU regulations, taxes, what's left? Anything? So I don't begrudge him his efforts. He puts out the product, we decide if we want to buy it. 1221lc, I bought those when they were like 90-something Euro each. 25mhz 020 and RAM was a good deal for the 1200 at that price. Today, at the price they are at, I think everyone is buying TF1230s, right? So what's selling there? Anyhow...long story, but he's got some good products. I'm certainly not crazy about the pay to unlock stuff. Don't like it in video games and don't like it in hardware. So...I don't buy hardware where I need to do it to have the function I want. We consumers have power!

@miggymad - how dare you laugh! I just bought two more Amigas. Pear pressure is real boys and girls.

Hey, I just said that he had history, so that I would stay out of a courtroom. His history is well known and not forgotten.

So 2026 Amiga FPGA £399 (Full size keyboard and SD Card disk on side) 8GB , PS 2 GPU :) LOL
CPU? I am not sure what speed would be today but I guess faster than ZX Spectrum next for sure.

Would I buy it? Hell I would :)

I need to know exactly which FPGA is inside to make that call.

A1200.net case and keycaps plus used keyboard and MISTress1200 can be head for that with some money left to put toward the MISTer DE-10 Nano. This has got to be the reference point spec for this machine. If it is not delivering what MISTer DE-10 Nano can at minimum, and if it is not giving the same huge selections of cores that can be loaded onto it, personally, I'd go with the DE-10 DO-IT-ALL Nano setup instead. Did you see the specs somewhere?

EDIT - I feel like Retro Games Ltd. doesn't do FPGA, but ARM and software emulation, right? I think this is what this full size A1200 will be, right? So....£399 for a software emulator in a nice plastic wrap?

if they every make an A4000 type case but slightly thicker with an original amiga1200 set up and a fully fledge windows pc that you can upgrade the graphics card then i would purchase one, if not i will just buy a pc and play my 1200 lol.

@Boing-ball - they do need to build an official reseller network, so there is that. There is value in doing so. These resellers have emails and contacts and can drum up interest in products.

@CPop - you know, an actual Amiga 4000 with a SBC card Pentium II/III would satisfy your needs. Unless you want to run recent windows 10/11 - which I'm personally allergic to. But I'm told a decent slice of population tolerates it. :-)

i would want a duel amiga and current pc. i have a few old towers in a cupboard lol

Let's say Peri goes the C64 Ultimate route to create an FPGA A1200.

- Case: A1200.net cases
- Keycaps: A1200.net keycaps
- Keyboards: A1200.net keyboard (did these ever happen yet?)
- FPGA Board: There is no Amiga 1200 off the shelf solution, which acts as an A1200 drop in replacement and has an HDMI out (I refuse to buy any FPGA solution without HDMI in 2025). Designing not only the board, but also the core would cost a lot of money. MiSTer FPGA core could be used but in 1200 mode it has compatibility issues.

What about MiSTress 1200? (also what compatibility issues MiSTer FPGA core have?)
