So I continuity tested the riser with a multimeter and I can find nothing wrong with it?
Another really strange thing is that by chance I noticed that if I pull out one side of the edge connector that fits on to the promodule, it will always boot from the tf330 but as soon as I slide both sides of the connector on it will boot loop.
What could that indicate?
 
Sound like your edge connector may not be gripping the Promodule PCB properly and when you don't install it fully this is making the contact it requires. I had an A1200 Apollo accelerator like that, if I pushed it all the way home like it should be it wouldn't work but if I pulled it back slightly it worked perfectly.

Maybe you do require replacement edge connectors

Yeah that might be the case but the strange thing is that when I say that I slide on of the sides of the connector off, I do me completely off, I rotate the console on to of the Promodule so that I can keep one side completely off and on side making a connection.
This will give video out from the Promodule and it will boot wb, there is however no power to the floppy since I guess the power is supplied on the side of the edge connector which is not attached, it's just wild that it will even start with only half the connector attached.
 
Some Questions:

1. I take it the pro module works without the TF330 fitted?

2. Do you have ram in the Promodule?

3. Does the Promodule have a FPU Fitted?
 
Yes, yes and no.
I have a disable switch on the ram and have tried both with and without and still no dice.
 
Good luck, remember to be patient when removing the old connectors - the ProModule pcb seems a little wonky quality.

Just a quick question, this might be a stupid one but would it technically be possible to take a kipper2k riser and just wire up an extra edge connector to that if one were so inclined?
 
I'm sure you could do that technically, however I would just go for replacing the connectors. So solving the original problem, instead of potentially damaging the promodule with some theoretical solution :)
 
I realize that the demand is too low, but it would be awsome if someone reverse engineered the Promodule riser so that you could simply buy a new, more reliable one.
 
Yeah, its probably unlikely though, but sometimes people do it anyway..

I gave my ProModule to @Timtheloon because I got tired of the issues with the connectors and what not, that's also a solution :D
 
Hahah, yeah, the thought of just chucking it out of the window has crossed my mind once or twice

The problem with the one you kindly gave me wasn't the riser it was the CIA IC's
 
The riser sucked too, I remember it being loose 😆
