Could someone supply the link to the news about the A500 version of the Vampire, or would it be worthwhile creating a new topic altogether to discuss other versions of the Vampire ?

@Kyle,
Thanks for your answer mate.
What did you mean by 'not chip compatible'?

I was browsing masjta's site and didn't find anything about the installation.
Is this a drop in 68k socket solution like the ide68k?
If this is the way to install then what incompatible chip is blocking the use in an A500/A2000?

Take a look at the 68k chip in the 600, then take a look at the 68k chip in the 500/2000. See any difference? :)

Actualy... if square vs rectangel use the same pins/amount. Its pretty simple.

Solder wires back of the vampires 68k socket. And sort out where every wire should fit in a500/2000 socket.
If this isnt a problem. The vampire 600 /aca6x0

Is one of the most compatible accelerators made :)

And ofc if its still hole trough socket on vampire.

I wrote number of times that Amiga 600 accelerators can't be used in A500 or somewhere else and reasons are not just socket related DIP or PLCC, they are technical nature.

About Vampire 500, maybe it's too early speaking about that, but is it possible to reduce its dimension in order to make it CDTV compatible?

Hi Majsta! Could you give a few hints at some of the differences? Is it voltage regulation? timing differences? something more complex? Just curious..

I think you are too late, pre-orders are closed. And as I've predicted price goes up before it could go down: when you go from "hobby" to "commercial product" you find out that suddenly you need to pay for a lot of additional things (commercially-produced stuff could be cheaper, too - when you go to hundreds of thousands or millions price goes down again because of scale, but, well, I don't think accelerators for Amiga 600 could by sold by millions :()

VMA,VPA,E for start then some other stuff...

@danwood_uk yes pre-orders are closed for now

@khimru yes game rules changes quickly. Let me compare few things. On first version of the Vampire I could buy lot of parts in my own city for it, now it is nearly impossible to get anything because this is like 100 times complex than old vampire in every way,. Also demand is higher now and used parts are way more expensive than before. Last night I was soldering 60USD paid FPGA on this so imagine how much that cost in total when you have many pre-orders. The same time I was lucky that I didn't pay for single FPGA up to 120USD. And the same time I have bunch of those from Ebay paid 15USD who does not work. Imagine, from one shipment of 20 FPGA only 2 worked so it is really risky game i have reported on Altera forum in detail. You ask for replacement and then he send you bunch of others who does not work also. Bunch of fake ones, or damaged on JTAG side so even if you use higher resistor values you can't detect them. What about the parts who are left behind in process of changing design, expensive parts who will never be used. This morning also I had a call from DHL and customs and need to pay 27% tax on my huge shipment who is stuck on airport and waiting for clearance for last 5 days. So all morning I was preparing papers and talking on the phone. This time and manufacturing this is not just a hobby game, this become more serious. At the end you realize that you are doing much more paperwork, going to the bank, customs than just designing or soldering.

Many thanks for all your hard work on this. The end result will be awesome. You, and the rest of the team, are forever legends to all a600 owners.

Not "just" for A600 owners  (just wait a little more...)

Majsta : I also would like to say thank you for all your efforts. Indeed thanks should also go to all who have worked with you on this.

Majsta just get the sender of the goods to correct the value of the goods on import invoice then it shouldn't be so much as 27% had to do it many times with stupid companies in China
Hope this helps
