Bloody Amiga's, if it's not one thing, it's another. :)

Just recapped three CD32's, recapped the CDROM controller PCB, replaced the lasers. Working perfectly.....

....then I plug in a TF330 and the sh&t hits the fan. Well, sort of.

The TF330 seems to work in so far as the systems boot and they load AmigaOS 3.2.2.1 off a 32GB CF Card, but only the first partition (a 500MB AmigaOS: partition) is recognised. In fact, during startup I get an error requestor saying "Please insert Volume Work:"

I have the 32GB CF Card divided up into three PFS3 partitions - AmigaOS: 500MB, Work: 15GB, Games: 15GB The CF Card boots perfectly in EVERY other Amiga I have tried, yet when plugged into the TF330 it will only "see" the first partition, yet in the Early Boot Menu DH1 (Work:) and DH2: (Games:) are clearly present.

Does the TF330 have some stupid limitation to CF Card, or is something else amiss?

If anyone could shed some light on this perplexing issue it would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I put the CF card into another Amiga to boot to Workbench (which it did perfectly), and then I commented out the assigns that point to the Work: partition in the user-startup, saved and put it back in the TF330. This got the system to boot to Workbench and sure enough, DH1: (Work:) and DH2: (Games:) show up as Uniniialised....

....does the TF330 have an issue with more than one partition on a CF card? Or does the TF330 have an issue with PFS3 (which would be weird since the first partition - AmigaOS: is also PFS3)?

Any ideas?

How did you set up the card? did you wipe and then set it up as a new Harddisk using the Amiga Amiga hdtools ? as the RDB could be the problem as a guess because this where all the partition info is read by the Amiga

Hi there,

yes, the card was set up on an A1200 running a TF1260, but how could the RDB be a problem if the card works perfectly on every other Amiga I have tried it on EXCEPT the TF330?

Ah good question, I have the TF330 and will try a large CF and see if it gives me the same problem

I'm pretty sure I had to use another scsi.device with the TF330 to see 16gb CF >8gb, I don't believe the TF use it's own IDE driver on the CD32. I used one of the A1200s with large disk support via loadmodule

Just tried my TF330 with AGS which has 100 mb 1st partition and 15gb second partition and it works fine here, using PFS3aio filesystem

Can you check SS does it load a new scsi.device? I had it in my head that that the A500/CD32 TF card uses gayle IDE but I could be making it up lol

:( I actually have Don's optimised scsi.device 46 via a LoadModule command in my S:Startup-Sequence. I have tried with it commented out too, no difference.

Yeah just checked the AGS StartupSeq and it uses LOADMODULE on scsi. device and the Version of the SCSI device in Devs is 43.45 which is good for upto 128gb

Yeah I think that's the version I used too with my classic workbench install

Any chance you could send me that version of scsi.device and I will try it in my startup?

Maybe it's not compatible with the CD32?

I am so confused. I thought OS 3.2 had its own scsi.device which had no such drive/partition size limits? Doesn't the TF330 use this device?

The scsi.device is within the OS3.2 Roms, maybe the CD32 version lacks the CD32 support? Apologies I'm not as familiar beyond 3.9

Just checked the SCSI,device in the CD32 rom is version 40.4 so only good to 8gb going by the HD chart on EAB

Okay, I think I know what the problem may be.

I do not have 3.2 ROM's in my CD32. It has the original 3.1 ROM's as OS 3.2 will run on 3.1 ROM's.... HOWEVER I set this CF card up on a system that DID have 3.2.2 ROM's in it, so I dare say it is not "soft kicking" the upgraded ROM image as it is expecting 3.2.2 ROM's to be physically present in the system.

I would rather keep the 3.1 ROM in the CD32, so anyone know how, and what files to copy to get the system to properly soft kick the files it needs to successfully work... or should I just install a 3.2.2 ROM (I have several spare)?
