What to do with a CDTV

Hmm, well...

So I lifted the lid on my CDTV, and now I understand why there's no space. The motherboard is at the top of the case, not the bottom. :-(

I think I want to keep the original case. Half the point of a CDTV is the design, otherwise I'd have just got an A500 with an A570.

So, that rules out an accelerator, unless I can get a CDTV-specific one.
I'm not even sure it's worth putting a hard disk in it. After all, I still have the A1200 for AGA games and WHDLoad.

I think I'll keep the CDTV as-is for now, and use it for playing OCS and CDTV titles only.

I had hoped that it might be practical to give it an '030 and a bit of FastRAM and run OS3.5/OS3.9 on it, but it's probably not worth the effort.

Thanks for all the input, guys!

I have an A500 with SCSI HD & CD, 2.04 & 1+4Mb RAM. It plays CDTV titles very nicely.:mrgreen:

Yeah, call me a show-of!:p

rkauer - is it true an A570 + A500 is not fully CDTV compatible? I understand you need to have 1MB Chip ram. I have an old A500 that I am installing either a 1MB agnus + slowram modification for 1meg of chip, or install my DKB 2meg upgrade.

Does the CDTV have fast ram as well, or only chip ram as a default config?

Andy can you post a photo of the insides of your CDTV? These are great looking systems, it would look right at home in any Home Theater rack.

@zombie

The CDTV does indeed have 1MB CHIPRAM std from it's initial release, not all software requires 1MB chip though.

And the CDTV has no FASTRAM as std.

TC :)

What TC said. My A500 have 4Mb of RAM, but this is not required for CDTV "emulation".
