Mostly so I could run Real3D on my A500, even in interlace mode without a flicker fixer. Probably why I wear glasses like jam-jar bottoms today. :D AGA graphics on the later A1200 was a god send.

Oh yeah your right :-)

I typed in f15 lol ooops

F15 must be cheaper? 3, less ??

Yes two great flight sims mentioned there.

I quite liked F117A, running and hiding from from faster and better armed enemy jets just never gets old!

FA-18 Interceptor FTW!!

The F-15 was the Strike Eagle - did F-15 Strike Eagle ever come out for the Miggy?

B-17 Flying Fortress was a good game too, although hard to master with all of the gun positions....

I'm going to play fa / 18 this weekend I used to love it, got the manual somewhere too...

I dont know about the first one, but I have F-15 Strike Eagle II. It was similar to F-19 (the first Microprose Stealth Fighter game) which was followed up by F117A

Yes another great flight sim that kept you very busy as I recall. I think I spent ages reading the manual for that one. :readit:

I got my first Amiga at X-mas in 91-92 i think i was 7-8 years old i think. It was the greatest gift ever! Me and my brother was all thrilled :) Thats why i bought myself a Amiga 500 because i always loved that computer system :)

I was about 13 or 14 maybe, my mum bought me an amiga 500+ second hand not sure of the exact price but it was somewhere around 150 quid. Great machine i think the first time i loaded Desert Strike i was like

There was also a flight sim with a B-52 in it - Stratofortress... did anyone ever play that one first time around?

@ Geraldine

My father-in-law loved the music in B-17 Flying Fortress - he said that the theme tune from B-17 always reminded him of bands like Tommy Dorsey....

Could never get on with F117A... it was missing 'something' that F19 had... or is it just me?

I think you might be referring to Birds Of Prey Merlin. This flight sim (from EA) had 40 aircraft in it including the B52. One of the best value flight sims ever on the miggy in my view.

It was just you :lol::lol::lol:

Only kidding Paul! ;)

F19 plays really well on my 500+. While F117A can struggle a bit at times, like Red Baron does too. F19 was easier to get to grips with as it had (more or less) the same cockpit layout as F15 II. Yep, a classic

Wasn't there a game called Stratofortress; Flight of the Old Dog or something like that? Am I thinking of a PC game?

Looks like both of you found it at the same time! I never tried this one, looks interesting :)

Where does that leave kids of today? Xbox to xbox 360 or ps2 to ps3 not much difference really.

I think we had the golden years.

Well said... I think its like going from windows 95 to windows 98 these days. From what was available before Amiga, it was more like DOS to XP xD...

I wonder if we'll see as big a jump in the future when Macrosoft and Sore-ny drop out... Though I cant see that happening while were in a recession, not many companies will want to challenge them right now.
I think perhaps the advancements we'll see now and for the near future will mostly be in innovation rather than computing power, atleast for a while until someone breaks the fourth wall and finds a way to get more efficient computing without excess heat and numbers of cores. And then its unlikley to be in a console first... But then the Amiga was also a PC.

Right so Whos saving up for the LG Dreamcube? :ninja: Samsung Hyperdrive? Or are you settling for Sony's Uranus? :D

its time for next gen stuff again..

the consoles are being left way behind by the PC once again but it doesnt look like either of the big 2 will release anything as they have both taken big losses on hardware..

maybe the end of next year?

Sorry yeah I'm replying to older posts before realising theres another 5 pages of comments or something lol.
