Hi Rkauer,

Yes my Busboard has a slot for an A3/4k Accelerator, so are you saying I could run this in addition to the A1200 Accelerator to unlock the Zor3 features?

As I will need the Ram on the Apollo 1240.

Also the CV64/3D is Zorro 2/3 so it should work anyway?

Steve.

@steve

the Z3i has two modes

  • Z3&Z2 Mode
This mode is automatic when using an A3000 or A4000 Accelerator, the Center Zorro Port is Z2 only, the remainder Zorro Ports have a jumper to put them in Z2 or Z3 mode if memory serves.
  • Z2 Mode (Z2 Fast)
This mode is automatic when using an A1200 Accelerator card, the jumpers next to the zorro ports determin Fast Z2 or regular Z2 ability. Fast Z2 is twice the speed than normal Z2 (upto 7MB per sec bandwidth) so make sure that your adapter card can keep up or errors are likely to occur.

When using an A1200 accelerator card, this excludes strict Zorro3 cards from use, in fact, I really dont know what would happen if you try.

However the Cybervision 643D Mk2 that I believe you have there is a Zorro3 / Zorro2 and Fast Zorro2 auto sensing card, personally its one of my favourites and one of the most underated RTG cards on the market.

a full 3d chips set
auto zorro speed setup
4MB Graphics RAM
Very Fast 64bit Blitter
1280×1024×16bit & 1024×768×24bit

Now, I have just finished fixing my optics, now finishing dinner for the girls and then onto finishing the 040 off =D

Firstly YAY! My package from Zetr0 arrived today, I now have my very own Apollo 1240 profesionally upgraded with 2nd Sim socket by Mr Zee himself :-D

I didn't have any luck getting it to boot with my CWB ADV SP install, but it boots and runs fine from a CF card that I have CWB 68k and another with CWB ADV so I'm pretty sure my hacked to death CWB ADV SP install is the problem, shame I'll have to re-install since I've changed so much...

So looks like I'll be setting up the HDD again later but first I'm going to install the Busboard, Modified PSU and CV64/3D into the case and see if I can get that going, wish me luck

**Update** I setup a new install of CWB ADV SP and its working just fine so something I changed before did not like the Apollo lol...

It seems really quick compared to my old 1230, like using WinUAE almost

Oh, got some pics of the Apollo, again hats off to Zetr0 the work he done on the card is great and its in superb condition

Some more progress, well kind of :D

Fitted the busboard, fits nicely with the PCKey 1200 which acts as a support for the board, nice design

Will have to drill some holes and move the slots on the rear of the case into line with the slots on the board but thats no problem as the EZ Z4 allows for some adjustment there.

Ended up with the wrong power switch connector so I'll need something from Maplin I expect to get me going however I did take some pics with the Busboard in place, however its back out now so I can play with the 040 and workbench settings :ninja:

Tune in tomorrow for more action!

Enjoy:

Wow, what a neat system you have there Steve, you have one envious poster here.

I once had an Apollo 040 @40Mhz (yep, was actually a 40mhz rated CPU), stupidly sold the card (as it didn't work) with that CPU on it rather then swapping it. :sigh:

Thanks

I'm going to set it all up the new bits (outside of the case) on my workbench this evening (dining table) for testing and to install everything to a CF card in preperation for the transplant...

Hopefully it all goes well :)

Steve.

Yay, all drives setup including the CF-IDE backplane, read speed is about 2.8k in Sysinfo but this is at the slowest setting as I was not sure when setting up which to choose lol. Still thats pretty much double native right?

CD Rom working, next to try and setup the Mediator. This is going to be the tricky bit

Sod the fonts m8. What impressed me is the Pic hack handing the PPC card over. - Bloody brilliant.

Well it was basically an old idea with the kick1.3 disk :) The original wallpaper is the one attached.
