A500/A2000 Automatic Kickstart Switcher - New project!

The Kickstart Switcher will be directly connected to the ribbon via the U4 40 pins connector.
The Reset signal will be pick up by the little PCB ribbon (new version) and bring to the switcher
via one unused pin of the 40 pins connector.

As a means of using up your original switcher ie the one that plugs directly into the kickstart socket, you could change my request for the 2 plus the ribbon cables to just 2 of the old stand alone boards minus the ribbon cables / adapters.

These would still do what I want and the ribbon was just for flexibility and as you are making another updated version to accommodate the ribbon cable, I could maybe see about getting one of those in the future if I need one.

I have updated the first post with pictures. You can see the Ribbon Kickstart Switcher version plugged onto an A500 motherboard's Kickstart socket.

You can also see the Stand alone version plugged onto an A500 motherboard's Kickstart socket.
Everything works perfect... but it's impossible to put the keyboard in place due to the profile of the pin header strip used to plugged the KS board.
I've search a low profile version without success.

So, finally:
- A2000, GBA1000 and A500 installed into a tower: Stand alone version. Price: 13.50€
- A500, A600, A2000 and GBA1000: Ribbon Version. Price: 21€

Here is a stand alone version finished. I waited for the clips electronic test which are arrived today.
The clip will be used to pick up the RESET signal. Like that installation 100% solder free!
11 stand alone Kickstart Switchers waited for these clips. They will be finished tomorrow, tested after tomorrow.



The IDC 40 pins terminaison connectors are also arrived for the ribbon version. I work also onto this version.

Currently, 8 Stand Alone version are ready. I'm working now onto the Ribbon version.
I can send 4 Stand Alone Switchers to members who have expressed their interest.
The 4 others will be send later since the interested members want also the Ribbon Switcher version.

Here is a Ribbon Kickstart Switcher onto a A500! The ribbon is a little bit too long in my mind.
Reset signal is picked up from pin 18 of 68000 with mini clip... no need to solder.



The A500 is under KS1.3 -> Drive LED is red.


The A500 is under KS3.1 -> Drive LED is green.


When the drive is running, it's LED is yellow.

To obtain the red and green color onto the drive LED, it's simple... I have plated the LED of the switcher onto the LED of the floppy drive. No modification of the case needed!

My switchers arrived today, I already had one 500 opened ready for these and just had to add the kickstarts and plug it in and connect the lead and try it

What a great piece of hardware this really is, I am over the moon with it and will maybe get a ribbon version to go along with the Kipper2k's CF memory expansion that I have in the near future In the meantime the other switcher is going into another 500 along with the 1MB chip memory upgrade that Zetro's thread shows how to do
