OK, the good news is that the 8MB board fits in the 1000 fine. I had to put some electrical tape over the jumper so it would not make contact with the expansion bus shielding.

The bad news is that it doesn't work in an A1000. The orange LED lights up, and the Amiga just sits at the white screen. No floppy click or anything. So I suspect the 68K is in the reset loop. I don't have a JTAG programmer so I'll have to pick one up to flash this thing and try to get it working.

I still need to try the 8MB board in my 1000. hopefully in the next couple of weeks than I can confirm if they work in that model.

really appreciate to have this information... i dont have any JTAG-adapter or programmer, so reflashing wont be an option to me - this is why i need a board with the latest code..

Huh, and with the 68K back in the motherboard, my A1000 is dead. Black screen. Doh!

Plugged in an ACA-500+ and it boots. I wonder if my 68K on the motherboard is bad. Maybe I fried it with static when replacing? I was careful and stayed discharged (wrist wire to ground). Hrmmmph.

I'm a little hesitant to try this expansion again -- perhaps I should pick up some spare 68Ks first. OK, ordered 2x 68K CPUs. Will have them next weekend and will try again. Don't want to try on my A500 and risk killing my other Amiga gaming machine.

Thanks matt, for trying this .. and sorry, that your computer seams to be broken now :(
i was having a similar experience when i replaced the 68k with an 68010 .. and the cause for this was a bad contact in the old cpu-socket.. once replaced, its working again.

but your described behaviour makes me wonder whether this expansion will work at all in an A1000.
hmm.. i was so much looking forward to finally have "enough" ram in my machine ...

Matt, I can program it for you if you'd like. I had the same behavior in my A500 before flashing it to the newer core. Shipping between the two of us is cheap and fast.

Did you check for bent pins on the cpu?

Ya, I double and triple checked, no bent pins. I'm going to pop the hood on my 500 this afternoon and swap the 68K into my 1000 and see if it's the CPU. If it doesn't work with that CPU, then I must have stressed the socket when trying the RAM board. I was going to ask Acill to recap this 1000 anyway, maybe if I ask nicely he'll replace the socket too. :)

I'll also try the RAM board on my 500. What the heck!

I tried the problematic CPU in my 500 and it is dead. So somewhere between unplugging it from the memory board and back into my 1000, the CPU received a lethal dose of current. Very puzzling as I was grounded the entire time. Anyway, EdzineG was kind enough to reprogram the memory board, and my replacement CPU has arrived, so I will try again soon -- this time in my 500 instead of my brittle 1000. :)

Payment received and memory board shipped to fook42 earlier this week.

Cheers

Payment received and memory board shipped to fook42 earlier this week.

Packet received today -and its working fine in my A1000 . Also the combination with an 68010 is possible-
so i'm happy and thank you !
8 MB on an A 1000 ... amazing :)

Finally got the 8MB board installed in my 500 and it works great! Thanks to mkl for the world's smallest 8MB Amiga memory board and EdzineG for flash updating my board. :D

I'm a bit confused about the wording on the first page.

I am interested in either an assembled IDE board (no RAM) or the one with the smd stuff soldered and chips programmed. Are there any left of those?
And can I add a CF header for EU5 more to that?

Thanks.

Picked up 8meg ram with cfide297, its seeing the memory but not the ide, did you check it all worked before shipping ? did forgot to program ide cpld?

checked through some photos looks like some wires need to be connected but is not clear where they should be connected

got working added wires pin 9 and 10 near edge connector is int6 just for clock port?
