Amiga WarpEngine 68040-68060 adapter

I'm lost...need some assistance....have all the parts and basic info 'where comes what'....BUT....I remember there were some instructions/pics about the connections between the two boards....if I remember correctly not all pins from the 060 board connect directly to the 040 pins (those that are on the same positions if looking at pin-pin)....

Went through all the forums I could remember whatching at the time...but can't find the pics/instructions again...

Anyone that already built the adapter can confirm this? Any help appreciated!

Correct there are a lot of pins that should not be connected in the middle layer between the two boards. The original thread at a1k.org has the everything you need. http://www.a1k.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2379&page=10

Yes, but in this thread is missing the part with the pictures showing the pins to be connected (and not) between the two sockets on both boards....there were colored poins (red, blue, etc..) showing what connect and what not....the thread showing it is not accessible...at least for me...

Anyone here already built this adapter? Any chance to repost these pictures of the connecting pins here?

There was also a legend on what the different colors ment....but don't remember if it was relevant for the building of the adapter....do you know also the meaning of the colors?

There was yeah, but you can figure it out pretty easily if you're that curious with a 68040 or 68060 pinout diagram. It's mostly stuff like 5V signals don't go to 060 board. It's not really that relevant or necessary for putting together the adapter. My suggestion when you are ready to test put the adapter on whatever board WITHOUT the 060 installed and check the 3.3V lines on the 10 pin strip on the side just to make sure you're not sending 5v to the 060, that might kill the 060 as is well known in Amiga lore.

OK....comparing to the picture of the assembled bottom board I guess that all the signals on the 'missing' pins on the socket (and colored on the diagram) don't have to be passed to the top board....but not sure if these signals have to be connected between the bottom board and the original 040 socket of the A3640/Warp? For the yelow ones I guess there should be connections between the pins and the adapter boards (as there are signals connected to them on both boards (top and bottom))...the blue ones don't have a possibility to be connected on the 060 (top) board...but should they be operational/active on the 040 (bottom one)? Same question for the red ones....no connection between the 040 and 060...but what on the boards themselves?

Yes you need that stuff, the red pins to the 040 socket, otherwise where would it be getting power from? Some people mount a sockets to the boards as a normal 040 and 060 socket, then use the pin strips for the middle layer. You can also do the whole thing with pin strips, looks less elegant but works. Some folks do it with no pin strips except for the 10 pins on the side, just cut the necessary pins out of the middle layer socket.

For people looking for how to connect the bottom layer with the top layer here you can find the connection schema of the middle layer. The coloured pin should not be connected .
