Hi community,

I hope someone could help me out with an issue that I'm trying to resolve.

Of course I do have an BPPC installed with BVision attached. What I do not have (or actually do not want to attach) is a CD drive.
Now I've modified the boot floppy in such way, it will find a virtual CD-Rom upon boot.
It boots fine till the moment it wants to load the 4.1 kickstart and there it fails due to a "ERROR: Failed to load module Kickstart/console.device.kmod" and "ERROR: Loading of modules failed"

Upon typing CD it returns:
AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition:System

Anyone got a clue why it is not continuing?

If you don't want to see the black screen and only hear the (HxC)floppy clicking, I suggest to fast forward to 0:45 in the video below.

The issue here is that the Amiga OS 4.1fe install is more than likely hard coded to look for certain hardware. I’ve had something similar when I attempted to install 4.1fe with a physical SCSI CD drive via the Cyberstorm but using a SCSI Mulit-Reader Writer using a SD card. It would only get so far but wouldn’t pick up the SD card in the multi-writer. In the end had to resort to the on-board IDE with a SD to IDE reader/writer. Luckily I could pre-format the card with PFS3-AIO using AmigaOS 3.2 for 4.1fe to install to.

On 3.2 it will fail if your HD is validating.

I'm not sure if this is the same with 4.1

Thank you both for your response!

For now I’ve copied an AOS4.1fe installed on a similar system from a friend to make it work on mine. That worked and I’m able to use AOS4.1fe.

Still hoping I can install a “clean version” as well.

@davideo Could you clarify a bit of what you mean, as I’m probably not experienced enough to understand.
What will fail? AOS4.1fe kickstart loading?

On my OS 3.2 installation my WB partition will sometimes need validating (fix any errors it finds) before it will boot fully.

While it's validating it won't load any modules from the install script and so bootup/installation fails until the HD is validated/checked.
