Any programmers here?

What you have to remember though is that a majority of Amiga users are still using os3.1 or lower, forgive me if I'm wrong. Prehaps a poll could be done to see what people are using.

I used to code... Could dust off my skillz.

The problem is that the biggest thing needed for AmigaOS 3.x is a decent browser, and an 040 or 060 simply isn't fast enough to do what is expected of a browser nowadays. Plus writing or porting a browser is hugely daunting!

Yeah a new broweser would be awesome, I'm looking forward to the browser in OS4.1 but this will only be available to such a small audience I think we really need one for 68k's

I for one would throw in a donation if there was a serious coder out there and I know many others would too.

But as you say, daunting task!

With regards to coding a browser for 3.1/68k, how come NetSurf for the Acorn has pretty low system requirements but for Amiga 68k it crawls?

A web browser on 3.x would be fantastic, having said that we have Aweb and the other (I forgot the name ) but that could be a task that's just too difficult... With a browser where do you stop? Java , flash , avi support too hard I think but interesting anyway.

I was thinking smaller to begin ... How about a multiplayer game ?
Something the amiga doesn't have? Even if it's mutiplayer chess or connect 4

Or how about a chat client ?
Strategy game
card game?

Anything really

but a pot could be set up with a poll for what people would like? But we need to be realistic of course ...

I've never seen netsurf?

For the browser, just for modern pages with style sheets and such to display properly. Java/Flash would be nice with the ability to turn them off if it slows things down.

The acorn RISC was a lot quicker than the 68000 anyway, as I recall by quite a lot even in the amiga hey day ?

partially because the ARM blows away the 68k.

Mostly because it's using SDL on the amiga instead of a native gui.

Yeah. CSS would be a must-have, Javascript would be nice as long as there's strict user controls for it. Java proper and Flash...not really practical on anything except really high-end 68k systems, and not really necessary for anything that would ever have a hope of running on them.

Can I add to the he list one that also works with WarpOS/PowerUP

Is zetr0 the only programmer here? Can no one else write , create anything?

I can code a bit.

I seriously considered porting my iPhone game to the Amiga but I'm probably going to spend some time banging the hardware and doing demo type stuff instead. A port is more of a job than I can justify to myself really...

I used to be able to make my name flash around the screen of my Speccy in different colours with the border doing some weird stuff, does that count?

This was when I was 8 though, I doubt I could remember how!!!

I did spend a bit of time programming in shops...

10 PRINT "DIXONS IS RUBBISH"
20 GOTO 10

I'm enjoy programming quite a bit, but I'm not quite good enough at it to where I'd commit to any project other than my own little game ideas...don't want to raise any false hopes :/

The limit of my coding was writing adventure games on the c64 and space invaders on the ti99 lol ... Oh and I used to make web pages in the late 90s , 00s

I've been learning to program in E for Amiga operating systems and I'm dedicated to some day releasing some useful applications and fun games for all Amiga OSs. I aim for cross-platform compatibility so I'm trying to keep everything system friendly. Don't expect anything as complex as a web browser from me though.

If you want to start OS3.x bounties, we are allowed to host them on the Power2People site along with the Aros bounties, I've already asked.

That's very interesting cammy , what are you working in now?
As for the bounty I'd need to if people are really interested and do a poll to see what we all would like , wether a browser, games, apps or whatever ... And who controls the running of such a bounty . I'd prefer a annual prize for the best software , then there is some deadline to work to each year...

<-- coder / artist / muscian / game'n app developer - designer - a rebel in need of a cause ;)
