I have a 1084S-D1 that doesn't show a display. Before I end up throwing parts at it, makes more sense to have a pro look at it. The power switch is dodge, but when held on it can be heard buzzing. The front LED doesn't show, but when I connected a (composite) video/audio source into it, the audio works. Has a funky smell, opening it up I don't see any caps bulging or any ooze/deformation around the flyback. It has an Orion tube. I did get a jolt from the RGB input when I was pushing switches - unsure if that's important or not 😂

i could offer to look at it,one concern this end is shipping and customs?

to save on shipping, you could just send the boards

yes audio does work becuase the supply powers it directly it only has two rails in this model, led wont come on becuase it has to start up first before the led turns on
if the flyback isnt running you wont see the led amoung other functions,it acts as part of the power supply

That would be great!

Customs IE->UK customs, I'd be happy to send funds early to pay if it's charged
Shipping UK->IE, I use a service that has a NI address that bounces to ROI so should make return shipping easier

Let me know if that would work

its ok as long as you foot the bill,i dont mind looking at it,i just worry about customs

youll have to send me a pm for my address etc

this is where im at with this one

it has a picture, ill explain what ive done so far 🤣

so apart from cracked solders,in various places,it had a shorted capacitor on the output side of the 12 volt regulator,i also changed the regulator as well,as it wouldnt like a dead short to ground
a resistor went open that feeds the neck board with power,110 volt for the electron guns
also colour on screen was a bit wierd,so ive tried to get a white balance(turn the blue up a bit more, basically) as white was yellow ish

parts list so far
1 1000uf 16 volt capacitor
1 12 volt regulator 7812
1 1 ohm 1 watt resistor

edit: and replaced the mains switch ,latch dont work

it still has a fault im trying to work out,but it evades me at the moment, brightness control doesnt seem to do anything at all,ill look at it another day

here is some pictures to show it "mostly" works as of now.ill go let him know where im at with it

it turns out the tda3507 is fualty, put it in mine brightness dont work

yep,got to try to source some from somewhere

this now works properly,i shall recap what ive done so far

while i was doing an inspection of the board i seem to have found a factory defect, two resistors where in the wrong places right next to each other,10k where 1k should be and visa versa, doesnt seem to effect anything but i put that right

i changed out the mains switch becuase tha latch failed, common fault
a 1000uf capacitor on the output of the 12 volt rail after the regulator,it was dead short
the regulator,as it had a dead short on the output side, for piece of mind
a 1 ohm 1 watt resistor that feeds the neck board 110v that was open
and a tda3507 as the brightness control didnt seem to do anything

i think thats about it,i need to organise it going back

most he might have to have to do is a white balance, thats about it when he gets it back, incase it has a tint issue, nothing i can do here for that,as that is a tube by tube setup thing

Tube and chassis reunited and working great!
