I'm back with news :)
My new flyback is finally in my hands after the Royal Mail doing their card trick and me having to go parcel hunting! :lol:

So, out comes the old one:

Here's the new HR one and its box next to the old. Looks to be nice, high-quality and well built :)

In it goes! :lol:

Reattaching all the wires and placing the board back into its tray in the chassis.

Fire the monitor up, and.... the power LED turns on, but no screen... :unsure:

... but I turn up the voltage potentiometer on the new transformer and...
IT'S ALIVE! :D:D:D:D :drinkin::thumbsup2::pint:

...but out of focus as you can see! xD

A careful tuning of the focus potentiometer on the new transformer returns the Philips to being as bright and sharp as it ever was! :D

Another excellent Amiga monitor saved from the skip! :D

Time to party and play some Apidya! :thumbsup::pint:

Many thanks to hikey and rkauer for the advice! :bowdown::bowdown: Cheers guys. :)
The flyback was the only thing wrong with this Philips monitor. I'll do the caps soon :)

Looks like my first encounter with high-voltage scary stuff was a success, and I managed to do everything safely :D

Woo Hoo!!!!

Another fine job mate :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

:thumbsup2:

Incredible work there guys, and well done bringing it back from the dead d0pefish, I would have been far too scared to be honest....

Top work indeed :bowdown::bowdown:

Ah, good ol HR.

They have a LOPT for everything, :).
If you have a tube booster, give the guns a clean, ;).

@ d0pefish

Well done fella. Is there no end to your talent?

I really do enjoy reading your posts, especially when you include quips like Royal Fail pulling another card trick, forcing you into a parcel hunt. - PMSL!!! :lol:

Thankyou very much guys, seriously though hikey and rkauer are the real experts here, I'm just either brave or stupid and happen to be able to wield a soldering iron decently enough! :lol:

Hehe yes, the Royal Fail :D
I remember the awesome picture from t'other thread, special forces crossbow postman :lol: ahhhhahahahahah!

:oops:
Don't be that modest, Dale. You are an awesomely skilled guy, too. I wish I have all your soldering knowledge (or Zetr0's, for that matter).:bowdown:

Nice little Miggy, mate. :thumbsup:

I'm also buying the ACA630, A604 (announced but not yet out), Indivision ECS and some other nice stuff for a small A600 that I use to play on the livingroom 46" LCD... Great fun.

Question: where did you buy the angled CF to IDE connector and the micro PSU ?

Hi Rakeim132 :)

Thanks man, it has to be said an accelerated A600 is just so much fun to use, I really don't know why! You'll love that setup you're planning. :)

The CF adaptor is one of Mika's - keep an eye on his thread for latest stock etc, he seems to do them in occasional batches: https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=7158

The power supply is by m3chy of Amiga.org - he has a website set up for ordering now: https://a4000t.com/store/

Cheers :thumbsup:

Thanks for the links.
Purchase order to m3chy done. :p

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the rebirth of my A600... I new I did well to buy this machine looooooong time ago in a CashConverter shop for 50 EUR. :whistle:

Hi guys :)

Just a very tiny update!

While I had my soldering iron out (working on Taj's 500+) I thought I'd do a little bit on my 600.

I bought one of kipper2k's Indivision PCBs that mount in the RF modulator area - it's such a simple board but a great idea and means that the VGA plug can neatly poke out of the case and remain very secure without any case-cutting or modification :)

All you have to do is remove the modulator, which is a pretty useless device in 2011, and always was the least desirable video output.

So, out it comes - with some care this can be done fairly easily leaving behind a nice space on the board:

Here's kipper2k's adaptor installed - a pair of screws and nuts secures it to the Amiga's motherboard using the holes previously used by the modulator. The cable can be routed underneath the Mika angle-adaptor if you have one.

The result - VGA where the modulator used to be - secure and professional-looking! :D Nice one kipper2k!

But what about the Indivision?

Er... yeah, I haven't got one yet. :Doh:
What I *do* have coming is the A604 to replace my A603, so I can be ready for the Indivision (when I can afford one and they're in stock! :)) without needing to lose my floppy drive or use any adaptors. Nothing against doing it with an adaptor at all - I just fancied it, and I have a potential plan for the extra room gained :)

And what about the Philips I just repaired the other month?

If/when I go Indivision, it'll be set up semi-permanently on my workbench for testing and working on Amigas I'm fixing for other people! :D

Hey Dale,

Thats some great work mate, I like Kippers VGA adapter, that is indeed a great solution :thumbsup:

Steve.
